I want to know how can I rename the file name on my host but keep the same extension.
For example:
abcdefg.jpg to new_file.jpg
abcdefg.jpeg to new_file.jpeg

you dont say what technology you are using in your question ...
in C# you could use
File.Copy(oldFileName, NewFileName);
File.Delete(oldFileName);
or
System.IO.File.Move(oldFileName, NewFileName)
for example

Dear Experts
I hope you can give me some tips, ideas, keywords to google. I’m definitively not a web developer and so I have a problem because I have been asked to support a web page with some specific algorithms.
A.) The specific algorithm is only available “in native Win32”, either Exe/DLL or Service (and I’m definitely not keen to change this, because of a huge part of the code is “tied to Win”)
B.) I like to support Linux and Win based Web Servers. This point I think will push me to provide my algorithm as a kind of service….Corba, I don’t know what…
What is today’s state of the art to solve something like this?
As mentioned above, keywords are ok, I’m not asking for the final solution.
Thank you very much in advance.
N.B: What I remember from the past there was something like CGI and ISAPI, but my feeling tells me both of them are obsolete and anyway do not match because I like to have “my part” only in Win.

How to provide my algo in an efficient and standaraized way for Linux and Win Web Server.

Now I think nobody Needs to know what the algo is doing. It has a set of Input Parameters and a collection of results.
I'm asking what are the technics to solve something like this in a General way. So what my algo is doing - wheter it multiplies an Input by 2 or whatelse - is not important.

No! But most probably my english is the big Problem to explain what I'm looking for... I don't think there is a big Need of Analysis and so on.

You Richard, are the Web developer and like to use my AlgoA in one of your Projects. What is the way you like to go to use my AlgoA? Prerequirement: I only Support Windows for my AlgoA but you are tied to a Linux web Server.

I have create a web site application and it is use LAN connection. And this website will run in tablet/phone/pc. Mostly using wifi to connect,so that i want to ask how to check the wifi connection if the wifi lost signal or lost connection? For example: if connected then show img with connected else show disconnected. Please advise.

You can not directly check hardware issues from within a web page, hosted inside the browser...
You may create a kind of 'pinging' inside the your web page...
1. Run a JavaScript timer
2. From that timer call a WebMethod/WebService
3. Depending on the answer display/hide an image
With that I have to say that this is sounds me like a total waste of resources...As long as the end user does not hit the site it is irrelevant if the device connected or not. If one hits the site why there is no connection, the browser will display a proper/detailed error message...

Hello,
We have a desktop application which interacts with the devices in Local Area Network using our own proprietary protocol. We are planning to put some features on a web and mobile application.
I have created a website using HTML5/AngularJS and a WCF service to access the features. The website is configured and deployed on IIS server on my development machine.
We wanted to provide a installer to the customers to deploy the website on the machine in which desktop application is installed, so that they can access the website on mobile and other platforms.
Is there a way to create a installer that will ask port number and deploy website automatically and allow user to access the website using URL such as http://localhost:1234/Myapp OR http://<hosted system IP address>:1234/MyApp.
Found similar things : Perforce(p4Web), TeamCity, Atlassian(Crucible). Don't know how to achieve this.

Today I had typical requirement where my customer wants to create tables and columns in xml file dynamically by himself from html5 form
My customer wants 3 controls in html form one for table name other for name of the column and 3rd control is for Column datatype
I have been googling but didn't find any luck.Can anyone take their precious time and help me in providing the solution

I want to configure spring method security in 3.2.5 security version. I have added following code in spring-security.xml

The method security is not getting configured. There are no exception or error. When I debug the code internally, I got to know that it could not invoke PreInvocationAuthorizationAdviceVoter.
Can anybody please tell me the issue and the right way to configure it?

Better or not, it's not possible, for legal reasons as much as anything. Are you going to outlaw the competition? You can't. Forget this one as a non-starter.

the toughest part of web dev is the variety of technologies involved. but having said that if it was easy then i couldn't justify my paycheck. the point it that there are far too many ways that things could go in the future. in the short while (compared to any other technology, like radio) that we have been playing around on the web people have come up with different way of doing things and they don't always pan out. i believe we are still too young for a consolidated stack. if it ever happens, it'll be organic and very effortless. to learn more in this are look at the work being done around jode.js also read google developer's blog about polymer and web components.

Hi!
Just want to ventilate my thoughts on my plans to build a web UI, turn based strategy game. This has been in my mind for more then a decade now, but it's now first that I got the time to start
I have started with the data model, and thats pretty completed by now. The database used will be MS Sql 2012 Express.
The business logic will be written in C#, simply because thats what I'm familiar with from my profession.
Now to the tricky part, the UI. Tricky at least for me since I haven't been coding web UI for many years
What should I go for here? What technology to choose for a web UI, turn based strategy game? There will be no moving graphics, no sound effects. Just an old school, bord game style, turn based war game with units to move upon a hex based 2d map.
My thoughs so far are leaning towards html 5. Build the map from hexagons placed upon a html 5 canvas object. Then place the game units to be moved on top of the maps hexes, in the same canvas.
To move the units on the map, Javascript will be used. Javascript will also be used to communicate between client side html/javascript and server side C#. Json will be used to have data structures at client side, compatible with the data structures at server side
Since I'm a c# developer, I'm used to MS Visual Studio. I'm still using VS 2010. In VS 2010, the support for html5 development is very poor but I guess in VS 2015 it has improved a lot, and I will get VS 2015 soon
Any thoughts on the choice for UI technology? Given the fact that C# will be used for logic layers

By the sounds of it you are wanting your game to be played in a browser, over the web. In which case html5 is certainly the way to go, or else you'll be asking users to install plugins or allow an ActiveX component, which is a hurdle best avoided if possible.
Otherwise, you're talking about a desktop application that can communicate with your online server - which is fine, but a) you'll need to convince users to download and install it, and b) you'll have the headache of writing different versions for different platforms.
Even in html5, of course, you must still be aware of how your game will work on different size screens - everything from a dual-monitor 25" setup to a laptop to a tablet to a smartphone....
But there's rarely a "best" way to do anything - or rather, the "best" is what you're best at. And what you will enjoy doing the most. Not much point in doing it at all otherwise.
