Git is the biggest %*((*^"£$()"£_£*))"£&R&!)(R** known to man.
I hate it, with a passion.
It doesn't do any more than SVN, or any other code DB tool, it just makes it 1000000000 times more complex.

To be fair I never found any version control systems that were actually 'good'. They all have their own pain points.

The only reason git is any kind of success is because Linus wrote it and he sunshines rainbows.
As a developer I work with files not images of directory structures. I have yet to find anyone who can tell me how to retrieve a previous version of just ONE file while having the latest of all the other files for testing.
That was an amazingly simple task in PVCS and SVN.

I believe the success was driven more by the need for source control for open source projects that were being completely managed on the internet. The early solutions that were free were very problematic. Additionally since a great number of open source projects represent a single deliverable the git problem with that wasn't apparent.

I thought it was just me that was sticking with SVN whilst everyone else was moving to Git. I kept thinking I was missing something as SVN seemed comparatively simple. Looks like the only thing I'm missing is the headache.

Explanations:
The first two characters, for those who can see them, are a dragon and an octopus. Cthulhu has been described as a mix between a giant octopus, a man and a dragon.
1) "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." (The Nameless City[^])
2) The New Horizons probe mapped Pluto and found a dark whale-shaped region, now called Cthulhu Regio[^].
3) (The tactical nuclear clue.)
- R'lyeh is Cthulhu's home town. His followers are known to chant: Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn (In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming)
