Lake Huron, in Canada, has an island - Manitoulin Island, that itself has multiple lakes with islands of their own. To the best of my knowledge, Manitoulin Island is the largest freshwater island in the world.

Yes, but is is a fluvial lake... between freshwater and the ocean; there can be saline regions surrounding the lake. Manitoulin is entirely encased in fresh water.
