I would not recommend ToString-ing the contents of the Text property. It is already a string, but if it contains "null", then it would blow.
I'd also advise against the "trim". If my passwords ends in a space, then you are not to remove it.

Hi I added new dataset names: "DataSet1" from dataset designer to my application.
I added One table names: "BinTable" form my database.mdf in this dataset by dragging table.
I want to add 100 rows in my table. It works when I run program but when I close it, changes did not save in my database.
please help me

Hi there,
These are my first steps in C#, i generally develop in C for micro Controllers. I am fighting with the problem that I cannot create a reference in Visual Studio Express 2015 to the office PIA.
I found this desription and installed the the redistributable following point (1).

Is there a possibility to varify if it is installed properly? I cannot find the dll (Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook.dll) on my PC, where is it supposed to be located?

I am wondering if it is basically possible to use the office interlop in VS express. Here it is stated that that you need professional for office solutions. However, I thought it is only related to the creating of the project.

You might want to take a look at the Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition[^], it is basically Professional under a free license (for small teams/student/private use/etc). I have it installed, and it comes with Office Developer Tools.
The installer you used installs to the Global Assembly Cache, which is why you can't find them.
There are a number of programs to help with finding libraries in the GAC, such as GAC Manager[^] (comes with an API) and GAC Explorer[^] (My preferred program). GAC Explorer can also copy assemblies out of the GAC. I am not sure if GAC Manager can do that.

Many ways, the best one (IMO) is already shared in first reply. Other ways include using C# code,

Other than that, you can also write the XAML markup in your code.

These methods are used to create a DataGrid. Then you need to pass the data as a value for ItemsSource property to actually render the values in it.

Let say I want to write a simple document editor, say I want to make (yet another) Notepad2 app!!
How unrealistic an endeavor is that?
My particular problem is that creating FileStream to random location on the file system seem completely impossible!
In my case I am making some proprietary format file editor. I would like to use Windows store
API AND I would like to open previously open file when the app start and also save edited file when user press CTRL+S (without going through a file picker)
But this scenario seems to be a show stopper... since I don't have file access....
Am I missing something?

I don't think it's possible to access random files from a store app without user interaction.
This blog[^] suggests that you can read and write specific file types within the documents library by changing your manifest. Beyond that, everything I've seen suggests that you're limited to the isolated storage folders for your own app.

Hi,
I am trying to migrate my utility library (formerly a plain .NET4.5 library) to a PCL library which supports both .NET 4.5 and the Windows Universal app (for Windows 10) app.
I got some issue working out why some things are working and some are not.
For example Task is fine. I can do Task.Run() on both .NET4.5 app (obviously!) and Universal app.
But Thread is not. new Thread() will fail to compile for Universal app.
Trying to use the documentation is of no help. In either project it send me to the same location! From which I am lead to believe that (System.Threading.)Thread class does exists! Though it doesn't! (in Universal app, that is)
Is there any tip / trick / reference (other than the compiler complaining) that will let me know in advance which .NET4.5 class will be supported in a Universal library and which is not?

Look at the .NET API you want to use and look for this image[^]. That tells you if the API can be used in a PCL project.
No Thread constructors are marked with that image, so you cannot create new threads.

Well I can see whether it works on Silverlight, Windows Phone (silverlight), etc.. But Windows Runtime support doesn't seems to have any distinct UI with it!...
