No I use a program called html kit from chami it can be customized to anythig you like to use to develop. it has a lot of plugins and it lets you develop the code unlike frontpage.

Hi,
I have a web site, written in ASP, where a page needs to be updated regularly by a non-technical person. I want to end up with a system whereby the user will complete the information in a text file and upload it to the web server, where the ASP file reads it and outputs the information.
After reading various tutorials on doing this I can see that the process and scripting is quite basic. I have tried using the following script created by Chris Maunder on this site:-

As far as I can tell, this script should work. However, when I try to open the ASP document (hosted on IIS on my laptop, which is running Win XP Professional), the browser just hangs ? The status bar message say's it is opening test.asp, but it just sit's there and nothing happens ?
I have tested other ASP files on my version of IIS to ensure ASP is installed and working, and every file that doesn't try to access a text file works fine. I have also tested various aspects of the FileSystemObject to make sure it wasn't that, FileExists, FolderExists, GetFolder all work fine so it can't be the FileSystemObject. The only thing I can think of it being is the file permissions in IIS, but I have tried changing them but that doesn't seem to help either, am I doing it right ?
Any help you can give on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Just a couple of thoughts...
Before you set TextStream = Nothing, you really should call TextStream.Close. Another thing to try might be to call Response.Flush after each line is read to send the text to the browser, rather than waiting until the entire file is loaded to output the text. That would let you see the process as it progresses, rather than waiting for the end, and might give you some insight as to where the process is failing. Alternatively you could use Response.Buffer= False as the first line following the language declaration on the page to disable buffering completely and send output immediately.

My answer may not solve/fix the browser hanging  problem. May b, I can suggest another method to invoke the sit updation.
Make a ASp script which opens as a list of input fields, and make the data entry person to enter the data and let the submit @ the asp page update the site??

Hello everyone,
I have a question about vb + assess + asp.
If i write a code in vb in the access database is there a way to run this code from server side
asp.
What i want to do is add a function to assess database that searches the access table to find out if this person has already been on the site.
Does anyone knows if this possible?
And y is there a vb editor in access???

I haven't found a way to do so yet, but I'm still looking. But why do you want to do this? Why not simply add a userid to the database on the first visit, then use ADO to query the database to find if that userid exists? Using cookies will allow you to accomplish the same thing without the user having to supply a userid, but this requires that the user have cookies enabled in the browser. You can't always depend on that, but you can provide a notice on the site to the effect that it won't work if cookies are disabled.

Access isn't meant to be a full relational database server. It's designed for use in a small office for developing custom database applications for internal use. VBA is included, along with the VB editor, to let you provide the functionality needed to respond to user input appropriate to your application. When you include a src="javascript.js" in your html code, am I correct in assuming that only the actual html file are downloaded by the user, and you will save download time because the code in the .js file are only downloaded when used? Or are both the html file and the .js file downloaded when the page is opened?

i have a java applet being used in my application. but when someone right clicks on one of the menu items it pops up a new window and tries to connect to a web page on internet.
Since my web application is on a Local Area Network it tries and fails...
How can i kill that window using JavaScript?
is that possible to kill that window although source of it is a Java Applet?

Hi.
I'm a beginner, so may be you'll find this question easy to answer.
I'm trying to upload a file from a web page with an tag, and I want to submit it without refreshing the actual page. I'm working with two frames: the visible one and a hidden one (not visible) with which I've been trying to send the form included in the visible one with javascript/DOM, but when I get the name of the file to upload I can't clone the input object to the not visible frame and send the form from the hidden frame (I think this is due to the impossibility to copy the path of the input tag to the hidden frame).
Could any one help me, please? I've been searching the web, but I found no example (may be because it's too obvious for someone with a minimum experience).

There is one possibility I can think of to stop the page refreshing.
When a request is made to a server a status code is returned whether it be 200 (OK) or 404 (Not Found) by default, otherwise the Internet would not work. There is however a status code which does not return which is 204.
On the client side submit a page as normal. On the server side page do what you have to do with the the request and finally return a staus code of 204. The page will not move.

I was wondering,
I am writing some CGI script in Perl to use on my website. Since perl script is interpreted, does that mean that if you heavily comment your code,let's say in a loop, and this loop is exectuted many times, could it significantly slow your program down?

No, the script gets compiled into an intermediate language when it's started. Comments don't have any effect on speed after that step.

my lecture is using ASP vr5.0 and i'm using vr5.1
is this the reason that cause some of my scripts couldn't work on his server?
for example:
1. rsRecordset.Open strSQL, adoCon, 3, 3
--> works on my server but not his
so i change to...
2. rsRecordset=adoCon.execute(strSQl)
--> it works!!!
Can you guys please tell me what is really happening there? thanks

Change (or add) the rows= attribute to vertically size the box to show all the lines. The parent container may also need to be manipulated to accomodate it.

you could dynamically set the content of the TEXTAREA to a javascript variable and then show it on a popup DIV or anywhere you want...
