HP's $1300 27" 5k monitor is tempting in that it's within my nominal price range; but has enough caveats that I'll probably wait for one of next years models before I jump:
0) Needing a pair of DP 1.2 cables to run at 60hz (and presumably appearing as two half width monitors to the OS) is a kludge I don't want to have to deal with for the next half dozen years. I'd rather wait for DP1.3 so it can go nicely on a single cable. This one is my biggest concern and almost a show stopper.
1) As a gamer I'd like to have GSync/Freesync support (preferably both so I'm not locked into NVidia or AMD GPUs).
2) While there won't be enough bandwidth in DP1.3 to run as high as 120/144 hz like in more mass market resolutions; DP1.3 could be pushed at fast as 90hz for a 5k display. A higher max refresh rate would play better with the variable rate that the technologies in 1) use.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

240x320 since five years, yay! Got that thing back in December 2009 and I'm surprised it's still available on Amazon and even more expensive than a modern low-end Lumia.

is hugh chunk of hardware with a lot of power. I like the bid AMOLED display and its high resolution.

I lost my iphone, thinking to get a flip phone. Would be a challenge for me. Would have to deal with a very different technology

My pc, notebook and TV screens has resolutions.
My previous year is resolved.
New year don't have resolutions yet. It only have hopes.

I guess I am not a real geek anymore but I honestly don't know or care for the resolution of any of the devices I use.

Good!
Send them all to me, and I'll send back lower res versions - you'll care then!

Once you get used to a significantly higher resolution device like ipad retina, and you accidentally use a lower resolution one like ipad non-retina, then only you get to know that your eyes are more capable.

But then, that monitor is in Portrait mode...it's only 1080 wide...

Does the poll writer's entire world spin around their telephone-device options?
A number of people here are write code and use computers.
As for the other devices; if the owner doesn't know the resolution of whatever they're using to waste their life then it quite simply doesn't count.
All poles should have a (KSS version) "What where you thinking When You Made this List?" option.

My PC monitor (or one of them) fits in that list nicely: I runs in Portrait mode, so it's 1920 vertical resolution.

It's not that PC Monitor VRes doesn't fit - it's that it's (for all intents and purposes) couched in a cell-phone mentality.
I realize, of course, that that is all the mentality available to many, but CP would seem to be a place where one might target the tools of the trade* and not the toys of the lonely.
* or assume we're clever and just give the numbers!

I really believe that I can develop applications that would target a lot of (and more than I think) devices. Including and especially, Mac, Linux etc.
But not only that, I really am sure that I am going to write applications for Android too, which, might be more than 1280 or as less as Android Wear etc. The New Year has no resolution for me, it is a multi-resolutional!

What happened to REAL resolutions? Lose weight, make more money, find a girlfriend, that sort of stuff
Pixels come and go and quite frankly I haven't got a clue what resolution goes with what device. It's all more or less the same anyway...
