If he'd posted question and then quickly the answer then that looks like rep point farming (and we had a few of them, they tend to lose the account pretty quickly even when they use sock puppets), but posting a solution when you found it several days later is good - it leaves the solution there for others.

For a spammer, probably yes: you'd want a forum where your message is seen by a lot of people, and lasts a long time.
