Today as usual, I was posting suggestions and comments to the new tips and articles for making them better without reporting either approval or rejection to them. When I got involved in a discussion which went pretty rude. Guy warned me, I started a war! Now look he's bombing my safe houses, (only the messages I've posted an a tip and an article).
I did provoke a war didn't I? 
Wouldn't this user be abusing the rules of CodeProject by voting down without a good reason my messages because there aren't any messages or reason required for a -1 on messages.

I would say:
1) Try to avoid discussion that bring nowhere. I know sometimes is difficult (I have been in one or two as well in these years). The best is (in my opinion) to try to clear the situation once the anger is gone, speaking the things and solve the problem as adults.
2) As far as the other user gets his "revenge" downvoting you and then calm down it should not bother you.
I get many of my "have you consider to post this as a tip?" or the "format issues" downvoted because some authors don't like to be told so.
To be honest... I don't do it for the reputation. I do it because I honestly think it, a new user might have overviewed the differences between the types and I tell them there is an better alternative. Other times there are fights between users and article editor (wining the article editor). Other times there are typos or whatever.
Some users say thanks (this is actually the best reward), apologize because they didn't see the error or things like that. Others... well, if that makes them feel better...

I haven't dug in, but the first answer of yours I saw I do need to comment on: loading image using dailogbox[^]
You've basically said "Go look at MSDN or Google". This isn't an answer, I'm afraid. It's a directive to go elsewhere. I would ask that questions should be answered, or you ignore them, or you vote to close them if they aren't an answerable question. Just telling someone to look elsewhere isn't helping because he may have looked, or may not know how to find what he's after (since he may not understand the issue enough in the first place).

I must disagree; it you look at the answer thoroughly, you will see that the referenced page provides very detail information on the OP's problem. Spoon-feeding some members makes little practical sense, and the assumption on some prerequisites, such as the ability to read documentation and make elementary conclusions is, in contrast, very practical and reasonable. The answer wasn't even "go find it yourself in documentation" (which still could make sense in comments and be somewhat useful).
Note that I don't insist that Afzaal Ahmad deserves better voting or question freedom of voting, or that anyone should be protected against unfair voting. As I can remember, I down-voted few of his answers myself, based in their quality, of course. Generally, on average, the reputation system works without big systematic distortions. I just say the quality of this particular answer is reasonably good (and this one has only one down-voted).

I agree to your point of view, voting is a right of every user and must be used with care. I have no problem when people down-vote it is a sign for me to get more details and knowledge on that particular topic to answer well. But a continous down-voting on my answer and messages (where a reason isn't required) after a warning that I am a stake of a war seems a little questionable. This is the reason I started this discussion here to raise this abusive behaviour of that user[^].

I know what you are talking about. I just put a comment to your answer in question and mentioned: this is something I called "emotional voting". Of course, this is indecent behavior. But, there is not a proof of the wrongdoing. All of us do mistakes; and it's often impossible to detect the difference between correct voting, mistake, and just indecent behavior. Your case doesn't look the worst, I used to have tens of down-votes in a row. I guess, some patience is the only efficient remedy. On average, with a reasonably well balanced reputation system, if the level of the typical member is above some critical level, community still appreciates your effort, driving your formal reputation score in right direction. Remember, it's still "formal". We all have different opinions.

I am not adding content to my first reply. My opinion did not change, so I keep it as it is.
But, on the other hand and to be honest...
I have landed in an article (probably the cached version) of the guy you mention in another message in this thread, I could read the message board before it went to the limbo. There was a thread with messages between you, him and @OriginalGriff in it.
It started about the too large size of the images, then went to plagiarized. You used OG's opinion to defend some of your points, the other guy started being a bit coleric and writing in not a good mood, ok. BUT...
You started making comments that should not have been made, being too general and involving the full culture. I am not acusing you of racism, but to be honest... that two messages were very very close to the limits. I have tried to answer you there and then I failed because the article was already deleted. That's why I am writing another time here, in the message you started about the same thema.
To be honest, if the thread would not have gone to the limbo, I would have reported your messages as abusive/trolling as well.
In other words...
If you want to help the site, then do it, (it is worth to try to keep high quality here, I am totally agree). You have the tools to give your 5 cent on it.
If you want to help the users, then do it without expecting anything. If you get a thanks, it is a big reward, if you see a change is a reward as well, if he blames you or starts a discussion... get over it. It is not worth.
