A prototype of MySQL 5.7 is shipping with an optional component called the MySQL HTTP Plugin. This plugin allows direct access to MySQL via a REST over HTTP interface, eliminating the need for a middle-tier server or database specific drivers. Because... someone requested this?

The first iteration made use of all these "cool" technologies like the MySQL HTTP API. We didn't even need to hire a middleware developer. The HTTP Guru Developers could directly address the DB from jQuery. This is the best invention EVER!
One developer generation later... We have a new way of doing things. We have added some middleware code that now uses a native connection to the DB. This have sped up our application by a factor of 10. This is the best invention EVER!

Microsoft’s Windows announcement is underway and Windows 10 is being unveiled. Out of some of the more exciting features unveiled, Microsoft proceeded to demo a feature that doesn’t usually get any attention during events like these; the good ‘ol Windows Command Prompt! Forget the touch stuff, this is what I'm looking forward to

Yes, but Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V work, unlike today, where you have to use the freaking mouse to pull down a menu to select "Copy" and "Paste".

In Windows 10, Copy/Paste will work as CTRL+C/CTRL+P also in command window!

Hopefully, that'll be Ctrl+V for paste, and nothing for Copy (because Ctrl+C has existing uses).
