The author missed a small point...Real programmer never wants to be 'there' - at the 'perfect' spot! A real programmer wants to move forward - all the time. The problem is not the programmer but that he have to choose between paths - there are far too many paths to walk on...

If you simply mean that a developer wants to continue moving forward on the project at hand, and not be bogged down in meetings and paperwork, then I agree.
But if you mean "to advance his career" then I disagree. Developers want to develop. Most (though not all) managers I've met who used to be developers, wished they still did development. If you (not meaning you personally of course) wish to be a manager or team leader or whatnot, then you probably are not "A real programmer".

I just threw up a little in the back of my throat.
I say this as my thirteen-year-son is playing that fetid nonsense on the XBox in the other room. 
I'll also point out (perhaps even constructively) that the kid chose to replace his Android phone with an iPhone because of some related app (a skin editor?) that was only available for that platform. That is a market I'm sure Microsoft wants.
