I want to make a popup to be shown on button click in wordpress. I had made button by using button creator plugin and also a pop up by using wordpress popup plugin. First off When I say Web API, I am referring to having a asp.net pick up on url, using rest. (If it wasn't rest it wouldn't matter for my question, Also wouldn't matter if it was asp.net).

Question: What are the Pros/Cons of having a strict API Vs a Loose API

(What I mean)

Strict API: UpdatePerson(string ID, string Name, string Age), UpdatePerson(string ID, string Name), UpdatePerson(string ID, string Age)
Loose API: UpdatePerson(string ID, Dictionary<string, string=""> Propertys)

Strict API: All Pram's are required.
Loose API: The Prams are list of property's, And you ask for what you want or what you want to change.

I am mostly worried about the theory on this not the code it self. As They could pass in a Person Object, that has a way to see whats been set and what has not, and that would more or less be the same thing.

My Thoughts
Using Loose Over Strict.

Pros:

* Reduction in Total API'S
* When Person has 20 property's, Its more then likely not all combos are made for it, thus allowing more options form the user side.
* Streamlined Documentation
* Testing - Although all the logic, and rules for updating a person are in one location, and requires all update situations be dealt with. (Prehaps they are not allowed to update first name if they dont send in last name). With the amount of reduction in apis I believe this would be more manageable.
* Time - Currently If a API needs built for person, If I am the one needing it i just write it out, but if someone else is needing it, then they need to wait on me, and i need to build it test, and get back to them. I have found they often realize they need slightly more or less data
* Flexible - Often the requirements change, and we need to adjust a api to add one more value or remove one more value. With Loose, The API It self wouldn't need to be changed, but only the user calling it, needs to ask for one more value or one less.

Cons:
* Testing - This is Debatable, So ill put it here, But I believe its a pro.
* It may not be allowed to update x, y, z with out m. this would need to be in the documentation, and could require some complexity for the user. As strict would only allow the ways that were 100% ok to use, and that were expected to be needed.

Use Case:

I am looking for a better way to code in general. That being said here is my use case.

I am working for a company and we have 3 .net Devs (including me), and one front end designer (html/javascrpit/css).
I have a website, that has over 100 apis they need to hit. Often the requirements from above change slightly and we need to adjust 2-3 apis to take in more or less data, and add another api.

Its not a huge deal when i am doing the page, and all the parts. But when I am not, it becomes a process. The UI Guy, comes to me with the request, I do it, test it, document it, then refer him to the updated documentation. He then uses it, some times finding that there is in issue, other times finding that there more data he needs or less that he wants to pull or update. Small changes end up taking a large amount of time going back and forth.

Hi there , I have created a website using wix.com and transfered it to hostgator , everything went fine and smooth except for the registration form .

on this domain

aalmtere.wix.com/kwdex

its working fine and no troubles

but on this domain

www.kwdex.com

everything looks good except for the registration form , whenever a user press SEND it says error has acquired , Please any help is appreciated .

You'd probably get a better answer by asking Wix.com. As it is, you haven't told us the error message you are getting and you haven't shown any of your code.

Right now, no one can possibly know what's wrong.

The difficult we do right away...
...the impossible takes slightly longer.

Hello, I want to have such a specific PHP script, which I will use only for a special purpose, not for hacking or anything bad or illegal..

For example I have "photo1.jpg" and "photo2.jpg" files on my desktop.

If I somehow, pass the names of these files in query string like

www.mywebsite.com/index.php?pic1=photo1.jpg&photo2.jpg

Could I upload these photos to my server automatically? Is there such a way in PHP? If so please explain to me a little..

I want this script because my webpage needs to upload certain pictures from PC and show them to user..

Any help is appreciated..

Thanks for your reply.. The files will certainly exist, I know that otherwise the script will be meaningless.
I know how to upload using a form but I want to do it automatically using query string.

No, there's no way for a page to automatically upload specific files from the client to the server. If there was, it would be a major security hole.

You can't even use script to set the value of an <input type="file" />, since that would have the same security implications.

There are ways to make the upload easier for the user - for example, http://www.plupload.com/[^] - but nothing that will let you circumvent the need for the user to select the files to upload.

vb.net web form generates extra blank lines

In a vb.net 2010 web form application the user loads 'template letters' to a web inerface, so that they can modify letters sent out to various customers to generate various late pay notifications. The user basically selects the 'template letter' they want to generate for a specific customer, and hits the 'save' button.

The web interface has the tabs for 'preview', 'html', and 'design' as the bottom of the editor. These tabs are not part of any custom code, they must be part of a web interface that is inherited.

The values for the editor are stored in a sql server 2012 database in a field called 'strTemplate' and the value is actually html.

The problem is once the html value for 'strTemplate' is loaded for the user to edit, extra blank lines are loaded between different parts of the 'templates'. Basically extra

tags are generated.

When the user hits the save button, more

tags are generated between the various parts of the letter.

I do not want these extra blank lines to be generated.

I have gone into the html tab, removed the

tags and hit the save button. The extra tags are still generated. I have stepped through the code to find where the tags are generated and can not find it.

Thus can you tell me what I can do to not have the extra

tags generated?

Things look wrong starting at mysqli_stmt_bind_param to me - you're binding the $sql variable to the parameter, and not setting the ID value to use before calling execute on the prepared statement.

I have 30 years development experience. I do C# and WPF. I have some experience with MVC 4 Web API's. It's time for me to transition into web development.

I want to learn ASP.Net MVC. I did get into MVC 4 a while back never went too far.
