I love writing code and especially creating UIs. It's my passion and I have put up with a lot of cruddy, unintuitive languages and development environments to follow my bliss.
Some of the more arduous technologies I've encountered would be:
Embedded FORTH - well actually, any FORTH for that matter
The inaptly named NATURAL and its backend ADABAS
VC++ 6 MFC - Creating any sufficiently complex UI was akin to attempting suicide with a hammer.
COM/ActiveX - it was a nice idea that got lost in the implementation. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Anything involving Eclipse! (now where did I put that hammer?)
InstallShield
LISP - that syntax, oh the humanity!
But I really enjoy using LEX & YACC, so what does that say about me?

Those days we were supply hardware (include installation) to our customers. As I was the new guy I got all that kind of works and every second week drove that car - full of hardware - to other customer...
