The books are a little slow - but by gawd they race along compared with some of his others! The Silmarillion for example takes tedious to new levels...
And it's a good story: the films help it along by using the spectacular NZ scenery as a backdrop.

Nope, I'm explicitly stating the world cup doodle is. As is everything to do with the Worlds Cup, withe the possible exception of the women the cameramen find in the crowds. Especially in the Brazil games.
