Woke up today to discover that I apparently have two Articles in the monthly competition - Now I wonder:
- Are updated articles allowed to participate?
- How are the articles which go into the competition selected?
I will never again mention that Dalek Dave was the poster of the One Millionth Lounge Post, nor that it was complete drivel.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news... but you actually have THREE articles in the current monthly competition (Everything Else, C# and C++).
The articles are picked based on a mixture of things like their popularity, votes, downloads, bookmarks, comments etc. and of course if they fit within the category guidelines. The 10 most popular articles (or as many as there are that month in the case of the VB.NET category) get on to the voting form and then the votes decide the winner and runner up.
There's no rule against being selected in more than one category as long as they are all different articles. Congrats and good luck! You could have a whole new wardrobe of CodeProject t-shirts by the month's end.

I actually asked because two of these three articles were not originally posted last month (Arduino was first submitted in 2012, and the C++ one some date last year) - But I deactivated them [during my short leave] and now the system seems to reccognize them as "new" Articles, even though they are just updated, if even. Can you check this aspect and whether these two articles are legal to participate?

The sticky message on Spam and Abuse forum is:
"The spam and abuse forum is a place to report content that may have slipped past other members. To have content removed, multiple members need to report a piece of content (or a member's account) and so if you find something abusive, or that is spam, hidden in a seldom visited corner of the site you can report it here so others can review and report (and hence close) if necessary."
I think it would be worth bolding the parts I did above and also making the sticky note default to expanded so people will notice it more. For example, QA spam that is obvious (live streaming ones) I see get reported here all the time. However, because people are in QA it does not last long. So often when I come to spam and abuse forum the offending issue is already gone. I like the idea of keeping this forum as the description says.

I see your point, but you forget one thing:
- Nuke QA Message = 3 Reports
- Nuke User Account = 12 Reports
And not all offending items deserve a report to the account, or all users report both offending item and offender account (so it is not sure that the counters remains equal).
That is the reason (at least is my reason) for posting the "obvious ones" as well. So that the offender can be reported too. If not... then in the moment the offending item is gone, the offender would remain as long as he/she doesn't post more offending items to be found by other people (reports must come from different users to add +1 to the counter)

I get your point but I doubt bolding will change anything. People see things abuse that hasn't yet been closed, the report it, it gets closed, and then others come along and see it's already closed.

There is a spell checker in all forums at least in the Lounge there is but I noticed the spell checker is not available in the ask Questions page subject line. Please add this feature to this page as its important to spell check in questions section.

I'm not sure that an MVPship should be the motivation for writing articles. Sharing knowledge, now that's a good motivation.

Sharind make feel good.
But recognition create more excitement. One year is a big period..People write in the beginning and may stop doing it after certain time. But when they see that they are getting recognized they may get inspired to do more.
I really appreciate and felt good when you said "Sharing knowledge, now that's a good motivation."
People should not consider how much point they get (because these awards and all are based on points) rather on quality of writing. And i think reducing 1 year period to 6 month may help.
Let say for an instance, Some one is writing for a year and someone he didnt win MVP for that year. He may get demotivated by that and stop doing it further because he have to wait for one more year more. But reducing time period make him feel "Next chance is not too far".

Everyone doesn't write article just to win MVP status. And further, its not necessary that you win MVP status only if you write Articles. Code project is meant for a single thing-HELP,thats it. Help everyone and you will definitely be recognized.

There are monthly competitions for best article awards which recognise quality. They should be more than adequate for people who only wish to write articles.

We've no plans to cut the term of the MVP award to 6 months. It's an annual thing.

MVP does not only depends on the article writing.
Answers in forums and QA and other reputation events give points as well.
If something, then it should be a different cathegory, i.e. MRAW (Most recognized article writer) or something similar.
Although I don't thing such new changes are actually necessary
