seriously, the way IT/Tech is portrayed in the media and in the movies just disgusts me completely, as if we don't know better.
the Anti-Piracy messages at the beginning of the DVDs is what annoys me the most. You can't be ignorant while trying to educate people about what the uses are of BitTorrent (for example Linux Distros which come out almost every 3 to 6 months like Ubuntu). Generally the generalizations for any bit of IT annoy me, unless it's actually done on a correct method.

Command line Linux tools like youtubedl still work when YT seals everything else off, including branded plugins.

YES! Why is it that every search algorithm always flashes through every picture/fingerprint/etc? I guess the monitor has to "see" the image to compare it, right?

It's required! Even in real life!
I once wrote a program to search a train yard for a boxcar. The operators would wait 15 seconds (the program required 30) and would reset the computer, complained it wasn't working.
I added a display of the boxcar it was comparing against making it take 45 seconds, the response? "Charlie get in here! Look at how fast it is!"
I wanted to cry.

The character inserts a disk and immediately a dialog pops up, saying "Disk encrypted". Yeah, right! 
And then it segues into another cliche - the hero guesses the password in seconds!

I have never seen a computer wiz in movies to search for a command on Google. How can they remember everything? Hell, I still from time to time need to check ConnectionStrings.com.
Another thing is that their programs just run with no issues. There is no debugging or testing effort.

I know it was the worst but I really agreed with about five of those options:
>The little beeping noises that all apps emit when data is rendered on the screen
>The stereotype of the developer (age, gender, hygeine and dress sense)
>All security systems can be cracked in under a minute. Usually by guessing a password.
>Viruses and Trojans show skull-and-crossbones popups.
>All data can be enhanced. eg disguised voices made clear, grainy pictures made sharp

Almost all the computers, in all the films, (Not all, I know) are NON Windows (Apple usually).
It is very unusual to see Windows programs when the good and bad guys are cracking, programming, working, copying, pissing off...
How can be it possible, if more than 90% (near 93% as I know) are Windows OS?

Don't forget Stargate...they had all kinds of crappy laptops interfaced to Stargates, ships, knowledge systems...kinda wondering how they translated to Unicode

Can't watch NCIS or CSI shows for that very reason...

Can't stand those shows either, its because every time I see a bit of the show, they are always enhancing some picture and getting the rego of a car from some reflected object.
But, it was totally cool when Harrison Ford did it in Blade Runner.
