I hadn't planned to decorate at all this year, but my neighbor had other ideas. I arrived home from work one night in December to find my pinus elderica[^] covered in bright lights, and an extension cord running across several yards to his house. I left them up until last weekend, then took them down and returned them to the neighbor.

Hehehe... No, I don't have anything available in C5 caliber. It was very thoughtful of him to decorate, and I respect his reasons. He has 4 little kids, and only had visitation rights for two days at Christmas and no time or money to illuminate his own house. He hasn't even got a tree. But the kids love my house, my tree, my dog. When the kids arrived for Christmas, the tree was lit, the neighborhood looked bright and beautiful thereby, and they had a wonderful Christmas with Dad. I'm glad I could contribute the tree. Maybe next year I'll sneak over to his house and plant a tree!

My neighborhood has been through some changes over the years, most of them not good, but the past 5 years have been great, with more young families moving in with young kids. A lot of people my age (0x3B) consider children pests, but to my ears, the sounds of children playing and laughing are music, a symphony of life and hope. It's good to have kids here once again...

I had a trip to Indonesia and got back the weekend before Christmas. We pulled the tree out of storage, took off the plastic covering it and plugged it in. We hung a wreath on a nail in the front door and my wife put the plastic candy canes along the driveway. Done in about 10 minutes and undone the day after New Year in another 10 minutes. If the grandkids weren't coming over, we would have probably just forgot about the whole thing.

OT: I cannot run your WinHeist program as it cannot write to its config file due to the program being in the ProgramFiles directory, which is secured on Windows 8. I would think putting the file in the AppData directory would be a better choice.

All I can say is it happened long ago in a place far away; A bordello in Boulogne involving bread, brandy, a bed, Brenda and of course the Cheese Wiz which I am loathe to mention.

I haven't updated it for Windows 8.1 yet just haven't had time with all that's been going on. I've got a long list of ToDo's and had an offer of someone helping me but he never got back with me.

I know what you mean. I love looking at night at the lights on the tree reflecting in all the shiny silver and golden ornaments.
My cat just drinks the water from the tree stand.

We usually put up our big tree, along with a zillion lights and ornaments, a couple of weeks before Christmas. It then comes down on New Year's Day or the day after. We also have a porcelain Nativity and other decorations that go out. It's usually a day-long process to set everything up, and about half a day to put it away.
That didn't happen this year 
Due to a number of family events and other issues this year, none of us really felt like going through the rigamarole  . We have a small tree that usually goes up on our staircase landing. I put that tree up instead this year, with a about a dozen ornaments and one string of lights, on the 23rd. It came down and went back into storage on the 27th.
