The only problem here is it may dissuade people from buying current generation products.
I was considering upgrading to a Nokia 1020, but if they're going to drop Windows Phone 8 that will become a dead duck (like my current Nokia - a Win Phone 7).
They need to be more open about the support lifecycle of phone O/S. The WP7 to WP8 one made a lot of devices obsolete.
