Got rid of the whiteboard. Word looks about the same. I like sticky notes and small pieces of notebook paper.

I've moved the white board outside of my office where everyone can see it. I heard through the grapevine that Tim overheard a conversation about this and was concerned that neither I nor another developer were up to date with version numbers. I know developers can't se past their own little project but I've got 50 running and the other managers I'm covering for were let go when it came out that they had no idea what release numbers even meant!
So, everything every developer needs to know is on the white board.

I knew a bartender that could have 50 people in her bar and once she served them their first drink she could make them all another at any time without asking what they were drinking again.
Doesn't seem like that much to remember. Employees go to their supervisors for a reason. The supervisor is supposed to know these things. Greater responsibility comes with moving up the ladder.

I'm with him 100% on the sentiment. FIL was lucky, they just morphined him up and let him go without fuss. The MOFU's that prolong lives that are already over deserve to be kept going. With spikes.

Just overheard one of my fellow developers asking the manager what the latest version of a product going to production is. Neither of them knew. Shouldn't they both know?

It depends. Since we don't know how you manage releases, we can't give a definitive answer - for instance, you might have multiple streams releasing to multiple clients around the same time.
