Morphine, you could bend her like a pretzel throw her in the truck/boot and take her anywhere and she wouldn't care.

Gawd, I hate that stuff. Destroys my short term memory for weeks after I have it.
The only instant messaging I do involves my middle finger.
English doesn't borrow from other languages.
English follows other languages down dark alleys, knocks them over and goes through their pockets for loose grammar.

It was jolly good fun.

2010: Microsoft introduces windows phone with flat design and bold colours
reviewers: blocky, childish, tasteless, etc...
2013: Apple introduces iOS 7 with flat design and bold colours
reviewers: stylish, fresh, best thing since the invention of toast, etc...
Sigh.
(P.S. I own an iPhone, but the bias that people have these days is getting very annoying)

Unfortunately, a majority of tech reporters are Apple Fanboys. So this is not surprising.

This has been happening for over 30 years to my knowledge. The typical tack is Microsoft = Big Corporate nastiness, controlling and fascist*. Apple = fun, funky liberal choice. The irony being it was always hard to use non-Apple hardware or software on your Mac. Even now things are severely vetted. This persists, even though Apple is now bigger than MS, largely because Apple's graphics/DTP has always been ahead of the Windows-based world, so all the "creative" types and journalists use them. More worrying is the fact that students in the US seem to be given a Mac computer (not sure, but I think I read this), this will lock many of them into the ecosystem as they'll find it too hard to get out of, and a new generation of propagandists will be born. Rarely have I heard a Microsoft user be so cultish about their IT choice. I've known a few Mac people like like this, they go all wide-eyed like they've joined a religion when they talk about Macs, and when you point out, for example, Apple restricts the types of software you can install from the store on your own hardware, they actually try and warp-logic their way into "it is for our own good". If I want an app that simulates a pair of jiggling women's boobies, then I want an app that does that, it's not in my interest to be told I can't for my own good.

Saw another news report at the weekend about a school (in Wales) where every child has an iPad.

I thought the aspirations of every school in Wales was to have the kids sheered before the start of term.

Just had a tour of a local Primary school that we're looking at sending my boy to and each class had a crate of iPads.
That's somewhere in the region of £15K per class (or £375k for the whole school), surely there are cheaper alternatives than that?
