Amen that. Back in 99 one could barely see any flames (some "dear sir or madam can you do this in VB?" here and there, promptly downvoted); today you cannot dare to comment something - the "community" promptly deletes "offensive content" (like why did you used function X instead of Y, go figure). At least one guy which name I won't mention took the time and downvoted (then deleted) each and every comment I posted on one of his articles. And he's not the only one doing that - god knows for what, since the article was not five stars as he dreamed in his bathroom.
You're right; this is not even funny, not to mention beginner friendly. It's simply unfriendly - on so many levels, seeing a simple nice comment from a veteran poster is simply a rarity today. This is the main reason I am barely posting comments - let alone articles.

cxreg's comment is so CRITICALLY IMPORTANT that it ought to be made it's own answer and be given enough up votes that every git user finds it and reads it. Everyone who thinks git pull --rebase === git fetch && git rebase is missing a big part of the story that will come back to bite them some day. Their is some extra magic built in that only shows up when the upstream branch has been rebased. If you work with large teams you will encounter this regularly.

I can honestly say that Stackoverflow is a crap, lousy place to do business. I'm not saying CP is 100% great all the time but in hotel terms it's 5-star while SO is like a sleazy motel run by down-and-outs for crack whores and cons. I find little of value at SO, and I think of SO as Sod Off, because I might as well on the few occasions I do waste time getting routed there when I google something.
Just my two cents worth.

I would disagree with that; the technical stuff can be excellent, it's just the "superior" attitude that gets up my nose. And can get in the way of the technical stuff... 
Even if it was as you describe, running down the competition is never a good idea - nothing makes me not use a company faster than a salesdroid "rubbishing" their competitors.

I'm sure they have their own salesdroids rubbishing CP. There are many folk here who are registered over there as well. They are indeed "superior" but makes them even more eligible for rotten veg and eggs.

I've found an Android game (VCMI) which runs Heroes of Might and Magic 3 on your tablet. Now, years ago, I spent a fair amount of time with HOMM, so I thought "Its free, I'll give it a go."
So, install VCMI on tablet - OK.
Now it gets difficult. You have to install HOMM3 on the PC first, then copy the game files to the tablet. So first - find a copy of HOMM3. OK - there are a couple in the "old games" drawer...Found one!
And lets install...oh dear. NT SP4 not found...System not up to spec...32Mb RAM needed and you only have 4Gb...Install anyway?

I solved the problem running 128 instances of the game concurrently. The gameplay was a bit more difficult, though.

They have been a charged-for item here in Wales for two years now, and I haven't used a supermarket thin disposable for about three - I started practicing to make sure I have bags in the car.
And you know what? In practice it has had no adverse effects. There is an exemption for prescribed drugs (free bags, unless you add a non-prescription object to the bag) and the one thing you don't see is "waste" bags dumped or tossed in the bushes like you used to when kids had finished with the "pie, crisps and a can of cr@p" that replaced a school lunch. For some reason the lack of a bag to throw it all in has made them tider with the rest of their rubbish...
It works - get used to it!
