As far I have seen Women's football (thats seldom enough) they are behaving more manly on the field than many male players

I am seeing a lot of people posting pictures online after running them through an 'old-fashion' filter, sort of like this[^] or this[^].
As far as I can tell, the driving force behind this madness is Instagram. I don't have it myself, so I don't know why so many people decide to go with those filters, but I hope it is a trend that will pass. I can understand if someone wants to try it out once or twice and I admit there are a few cases where the result is great, but in my opinion that is a very low percentage.
Yes, I can just look the other way (and I have been doing that), but this rant was sparked by a rash of instagram'ed pictures from my brother's wedding posted on their Facebook profiles. Unfortunately I was unable to attend the wedding and I was looking forward to seeing the pictures. 
I don't understand why people run out and buy the latest phone with the latest camera technology just to 'ruin' their pictures this way.
