I know, but... What if there are not so many people online / paying attention to report the first messages? without some kind of time limitation it is possible to bypass that number of messages.
And even though, they can create a bunch of accounts, write harmless answers to deal with the blockade and afterwards use them.
It can make it a bit more difficult for them, but not impossible. As I said, the only way to deal with that is affecting legitime new members.
If your solution was implemented and I was a new member needing to ask something with a link to an image to clarify something... how would I be able to do it?
It is annoying yes, but we can already deal with the spam, reporting, deleting the links or the posts and so on.
Don't make millions of potential new normal users pay for the stupidity of some spammers.

I was thinking more along the lines of reversing it - the message needs to be approved by an appropriate member before it appears to everyone else. After three messages get approved, the members is no longer moderated and can post messages as normal. If any of the first three messages are spam, the account gets deleted.
Yes, it would be annoying for new members to have to wait for their message to be approved, but it's a solution that's used by many other sites without any major problems.

It's not about making it impossible to post spam; it's about making it harder to post spam. If they have to update their bots to post three legitimate messages first and wait for those messages to be approved before they start bombarding the site with crap, they'll probably move on to other, easier targets instead.

The way you explained it at the beggining was not so clear (or at least I didn't understand you point)
This is already working in CP but only with the articles. The only problem I see is the overload of work for members that can "approve" accounts and the possiblity of some messages going to the Limbo.
But you are right, that would make it much harder to use bots.

Given the number of new accounts created to ask questions, I don't see it as being practical to put that many items into a moderation queue. The queue serves a different purpose for articles so it makes more sense there. If this were implemented, it would just drive traffic to other sites.

Sorry, I didn't want to upset you. It is just that last weeks have been A LOT of question related to the reputation points as it was the most important thing in the world.
You have done it right reporting, that is the purpose of this forum. I guess CP staff will have a look on it, but I don't think it is something landing on the upper part of open bugs. It is not something so important or affecting the good function of the site.
About the Who is Who page, for me it is just a kind of report of the users on CP, where you can see the open information of each profile and the reputation. Just the same as if you click in someone's name but all at once and with the possibility of ordering the list according to some options. But at the end I think it is just that, a report-list, not a ranking.

There is a 'Rollback' button when opening the revision compare page (v<num> link).

Below the question is the line 'Posted ... Edited ... v<num>' where <num> specifies the version. This is a link that opens the revision history.

It is in the righmost column of the revision table. But maybe it is only available when you have enough rep points for specific sections (author in your case).

Go to the question click on the v4 link and you should see all the revisions, with a Rollback button in the last column for each of the older versions.
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

It probably is that but I don't see what authorship has to do with being able to rollback a change on a question.
If I'm able to edit / delete the question I should also be able to rollback a question.
My guess is the revision page for questions is using the same code as the revision page for articles (or maybe only the table) and thus the authorship rights are (incorrectly) used.

You can use a "bypass" for that. Go to the version you mean, copy it, edit the question and paste the content of the older version. Update and done.
It is not a rollback, but at the end is the same result.
