Possible bug in newly-released status Adam David Hill10-Oct-12 13:51 Adam David Hill 10-Oct-12 13:51  Hi, I recently started this article, and edited it over a few days and then published it. As far as I could see it never made it to the Latest Articles bit. Looking at it, it has an "Updated" date set long before the publishing date (even though I updated it just before publishing). My guess is that when I published, whatever compiles the list of articles for the category looks first at the Created date to see if it's new, rather than the Published date, and if it's not deemed new then then it looks at the Updated date, which is the right idea but doesn't appear to be have been stamped totally correctly if an article's been in draft status for a while. I do accept it's perfectly possible I'm just coming up with an elaborately creative way to assure myself this is why my article seemed to be tucked away from the word go. Sometimes, anyway. Other times it fails for mysterious reasons - I'm not exactly sure under what circumstances it fails to work. Chris Maunder10-Oct-12 6:57 Chris Maunder 10-Oct-12 6:57  The checkboxes allow you to select a bunch at once, or they are used by the "Select All" checkbox at the top. This is useful when you're in the mode of thinking "let me collect together all the ones I want to mark as read in one go. Debugging it isn't straightforward due to the nature of the problem at hand, and there doesn't seem to be any way to contact the author... Can the any admins send this guy a mail or something? Is that possible? It's a great piece of work that could be really useful and it seems a shame for it to be in this state. When you post a message on one of their articles the message is sent to their inbox using the same email address that we would use if mailing them directly. I'll post something on the project page for a start. I had the feeling that I might end up fixing it. I've already done a bit of preliminary tracing, though it would be a bonus if the author is able to help. Current thoughts seem to indicate the memory allocator, it's interaction with the STL exception handler and / or the pointer stashing technique used and it's relationship with x64 arch. Some allocations work, some don't, and it's not an obvious bug at first glance - fun times... Does CodeProject support any kind of mutual code collaboration setup? If not do people host code on bitbucket / github and reference it from here or whatever? Do you guys on the site have backups of the previous code revisions? It might help in cross-referencing if and when the bugs got introduced. I leave it up to you to decide if it is necessary to further investigate. However, to answer the underlying question: as long as the author attributes the code to you, doesn't remove any of your copyright notices, and identifies that the code is under the CPOL, he's fine. That being said, it's your code and your article. You can assign the rights however you wish.
