I wouldn't buy the Surface RT no matter how much more battery life I could get out of it. When it comes down to it, I don't want some hamstrung version of Windows. It's probably perfect for most consumers, but I'll probably want to do some development on there, and that's just not possible with the ARM processor.
I will definitely get the Surface Pro or a similar tablet from an OEM. I like the option of having a touch based tablet as well as a full computer with keyboard when I'm sitting down.
What I really want is a surface with a doc station that connects to a full size keyboard, mouse and monitor.

I believe MS Surface requires more interactivity. It's beyond the needed automation I think, How do they manage things like Right clicking? I guess it's hard to handle that in touch screens and scrolling.. Why I'm saying this because if you guys have used sw like 3D Animation, Gaming, etc.. you'll see how much touch screens need to be improved to comply that.

Right-clicking is usually accomplished by a "long touch." That's where you touch something for a second or more instead of just a moment.

I'm going to participate in the counter-cult! There are the super cool, better than everyone else iPeople. There are the less affluent, Google nerds. Finally, a tablet for the rest of us.
Ok, truth be told, I have an iPhone, but I resent the smug attitude of the Apple faithful. Google products have always seems innovative but unpolished (gmail is a good example - try comparing it with Office 365 for usability). I'm looking forward to a product that may challenge the established order of things.
(Of course, I can't really say I'll buy it until I see prices and read a few reviews of the actual product.)

Looking at the product review of Windows Surface it looks cool and seems like it can replace laptops if you use laptop for leisure.

Why?
The first reason: Because i'm really frustrated caused by metro. The last 3 weeks i had to port a existing and good working application written in C# with dotNet 4.0 to metro. There are so many stuff missing in metro (File namespace for example), it's a lot easier to port the application to android/ios or another language than to metro. I'm not happy with metro, they have their reasons with it, but for porting, it's really painful.
The second reason: I never used tablets and i don't see any use to it, i got my computer and my smartphone, this is more than enough. It's really, really hard to understand, especially in the game industrie, why the world is so keen on this touch stuff.

Indeed. Touchscreens should more adequately be called smearscreens. Probably there will one day be dispensers with rubber gloves next to any public terminals to prevent the customers catch anything and sue the company that owns the terminal.

Depends on the price of the Pro version. It pretty much has everything I could want in a tablet, and if the price is reasonable I'll pick one up. Also assuming there aren't any significant bugs, and the battery life is decent...basically I'm waiting on the details before I decide.

I got a 15" laptop for less than $275 USD last year that does everything I need. I can tether it to my phone for Internet access. When they get to commodity pricing, then I'll consider one.
The other consideration is that they are too big. If I'm going to carry something as large as the surface, I'll need some sort of bag. At that point I would just assume carry something a bit bigger that is comfortable to use (bigger screen and processing power).

I carry a laptop bag with me anyways (and most days it does not have a laptop in it), so that's no concern for me. And I assume the Surface would be lighter than a full laptop. As far as processing power goes, anything intensive I can just use my desktop, so that's no concern to me (portable computers are complements, not replacements, to a desktop as far as I'm concerned, not true for everyone though).
What I really want is a decent sized tablet with a pen that I can jot things on to (for taking notes, primarily, typing isn't a convenient substitute with all the symbols used frequently in many of my classes, like partial derivative and integral symbols). So if anything, I see the size as a plus, not a minus.
I currently have a netbook with a touch screen filling the same role, but the screen broke and it didn't play well with pens to begin with (some weird band in the middle that would only work with my finger, not with the pen for some reason), and the rest of the hardware is slowly dying as well so I need a replacement soon.
I don't expect the Surface to be ideal for everyone, but it's exactly what I need, and I'm willing to shell out some extra for that convenience. The keyboard and ability to run Windows applications is just icing on the cake. But, I haven't heard anything concrete on the final price, so it may be too expensive still.

I'm going to be in the market for an Ultrabook to replace my current laptop soon. One of the things that would be a nice feature is a touch screen. I like the option of having something like a tablet but I don't want to sacrifice any of the features of the laptop. Maybe something like this:

I can't find use for that, I'm always with the laptop out there, then the only thing that can be useful is a cell phone with unlimited internet connection that can be shared to the laptop.

Apart from the fact that I probably couldn't afford one, I have difficulty in seeing a personal need for a tablet. Almost everyone I know that has one doesn't really use it except for it's look-at-me function.
In spite of this, if I was going to get one, it would probably be a Surface. Not quite sure why though.
