Hi,
Are there any SNMP programming gurus out there - anyone who actually understands what can / cannot be done with SNMP?

I know some. But if you are talking about programming SNMP, you got a problem with all windows versions before Win2k. The SNMP API's only support Win2k or later...

Anders,
Thanks for the advice. My customers don't have any problem with Windows 2000 fortunately.

Hi All,
In Windows, what's the logic for selecting the accounts which may be owners of a file? This is the list displayed when, via properties, you decide to change the file's ownership.
Must they hold a user right or something?

Owners have a lot of rights. Even if they are denied access to a file, they can change that, so they can access it again.
Only make admins owner of files...

Anders,
Do you know how Windows selects the list of potential new owners of a file when you select the Change Ownership option? I must do this using the Microsoft rules.

As far as I know, it let's you select between yourself and the old owner... (At least if you are admin)

I am using a domain member PC which adjusts its clock to the domain controller's one. Can you tell me how to turn this feature off. The domain controller is Windows 2000 Server. The domain workstation is Windows 2000 Professional.

Try to disable the "Windows Time" service.

Hi All,
If you are involved in SysAdmin, I'd like to know what you do, either [1] working as a SysAdmin or [2] as a developer of SysAdmin tools (maybe emploed by CA or BMC or Tivoli etc.).
The reason I ask is to determine the interest there may be in articles in the area. I would contribute with extracts from my own company's products.
If there is also significant interest then I may advertise here as well.
See http://www.sysgem.com/ then click Downloads - Product Information and you'll see where our area of expertise is: Windows GUI, agents on all platforms, scripts in Perl, UNIX Shell, DCL, CL, ...

Well, I work as a sysadmin, and a developer.
I mean, I work in a small compagny, where I'm Manager of R&D. I also do my share of programming, because I'm the only C++ developer (all the other are web-guys), and I'm also responsible for the network and servers..
I'm administrating MS Backoffice Servers, and have done so for several years...
