Hi CP developers
I had a total reputation points of 1025. Then I added two of my blogs to the CP > Articles > Submit blog. When I was submitting the blogs, I got the parsing error , so I resubmitted it. In the blogs list I found that one of my blog was submitted 3 times and the other one 2 times.
So I browsed to the 'Manage blogs' link and deleted my duplicate blog entries , a total of 3 of them.
But to my astonishment, I found that my reputation score has been reduced to 975. I checked the details and found that I did not get the reputation points for the duplicate entries but 50 points were deducted for each blog entry deleted.
I was punished for cleaning up the mess. Please check.

I think I had mentioned this before. I've tried turning the setting on, then saving the Preferences, then turning it off and saving ... but this seems to have no effect.
Since, now, I'm more active on the Quick Answers forum, commenting, and replying with answers, these are increasing in number, and I prefer not to have cryptic e-mail updates.

I think with QA that you get an email message every time anyone posts a comment to a "Solution" that you have added; even those in reply to other comments. These are not private email messages, as they would have the return address of the sender rather than the generic CodeProject address.

Thanks, Richard, I do see these messages are coming in response to QA comments, and answers, and I clearly saw these messages are generated by CP, not the individual responder, but I thought that when you set your site Preferences in your Profile to not allow private e-mails, that applied to all responses in every are of CP.
I do think the site user should have total control over all private notifications.
My preference would be to have fine-grained control over permissions for CP to generate an e-mail notification, so that, for example, I could choose not to have notifications from QA, but could choose to have them from responses to my own posts on C#.
Also, ideally, I could have the choice of receiving all notifications once per day.
I love thinking of work the CP could do

The News page seems to just list the latest articles.
While I'm here, any possibility of searching Forum posts, and seeing results ordered by date (most recent first) - I was trying to see if I was reposting, but had to wade through too many posts from 2007 to do so thoroughly.

In the right panel there's a 'sort by' listbox, choose Date Created/Modified Desc

It's because English is my primary language, not my first language.
My first languages are C# and Java.
VB, ASP, JS, PHP and SQL are my second language.
Indonesian came as my third language.
My fourth language? I'm still creating it, I'll let you know when it's done!

On this page: http://www.codeproject.com/script/News/List.aspx[^]? It's listing news items at the moment. If it's been stealing the articles' lists and showing them instead then it's going to get a formal reprimand.
Any luck with the forum message search? (left hand bar as mentioned). Please let me know if things are still weird (the search, not the messages themselves.)

I wrote a pretty popular article a long time ago (8 years), and was surprised by how frequently it's been being downloaded. So when I looked at "Recent Reputation Points" and clicked on the download file (prettygoodsplashscreencode.zip) the link took me to someone else's splash screen article. Seems like something is wrong here. The HTML looks like this:
<td class="border-none-left">Related File<a id="ctl00_MC_LRH_ctl03_SmO" href="/KB/dotnet/Yet_Another_Splash_Screen.aspx">prettygoodsplashscreencode.zip</a> </td>
The file "prettygoodsplashscreencode.zip" is mine. The article "Yet_Another_Splash_Screen.aspx" is not.
So maybe I'll lose some reputation points here, but I'd rather it be fair if I'm wrongly getting credit.

I noticed the following behaviour:
- an article was pending and in my opinion it needed formatting so I left a message (suggestion) to correct the formatting, +1 point
- someone didn't like the message so it was downvoted, -2 points
- the article was removed so a "Post a General Forum Message (undo)" was added, -1 point
So at the end the total is -2 points. Now the question is, should the down/upvotes also be removed when the article is removed (as the conversations are) or is this intended that votes still remain?.

Personally, I think there's nothing wrong with keeping the points (whether positive or negative). I think if you had gotten positive points out of the whole situation instead of negative points, you would probably not even be asking the question. At least it's just -2 points, means it probably wasn't a meaningful member anyway.

Actually, I agree with you that it makes sense that the votes may remain even if the original article is removed. Just curious if this is intended behavior and works both ways.

It does work both ways... so if you happen to get +120 on upvotes on a solution and the question is removed, you'll keep those points.
