Don't stop there. Let's really trick it out. 1 star = 5 upvotes, 2 stars = 10 upvotes, etc. For the next orders of magnitude, the stars can be displayed as red, green, etc.
Hey John: Can your CodeProject screen scraper distinguish between yellow, red, and green stars? That's something I would really like to keep track of.

looks like you recently added a feature to automatically v-scroll the browser to put the text of the just-clicked message at the top of the browser window. and it looks like that just broke. the message ends up about 50 pixels higher than the top of the window, so i have to scroll up to read the first few lines.
at least that's what i'm seeing.

I seriously like the new "Code block" and "var" widgets in Q&A - very nice indeed.
Changing inline code to var should help prevent noobies using the whole one by mistake, and being able to chose the code block language from a list is truly excellent!

Going back to var should help things. The drop-down was, as others have pointed out, first suggested by DaveAuld.
Further shout outs:
The editor for posting forum messages is now the same as that used in Questions and Answers. The neat bit about that is the code-sniffer that Luc Pattyn supplied. If you have "wrap in a PRE if code detected" checked, then when you post something it will try and guess as to whether it's code and, if so, wrap in PRE blocks with the appropriate language tag.
I'm also hoping the wording of the paste options is clearer, and, based on Luc's bug tracking, the posting itself now works as it should, based on the options you choose.
And finally: I can thank you for helping out with the Chrome message connectors bug that, if you're reading this in Chrome, is fixed.

Either I am hallucinating or it is a bug. I have never selected option to show profile popups but still I see them. Is there something wrong with me or with the code (read hamsters) that run this site?

"General options: Show member profile popups?" is checked in your profile (Go to Forums).
Blame the hamsters or the beer if it wasn't you.

Well it's so easy to just change your display-name and email to something randomly generated. It's not as if you have any posting history here.

I know we all need unique names to create an account, but sometimes the Real Name (tm) is taken and we're left with options like putting numbers on the end to differentiate. Any chance of having a Real Name field in the profile, and if it's set display that instead of the User Name? Or maybe with the User Name in brackets?
That way, those of us unable to call ourselves our Real Name can still be display it proudly rather than hiding behind an alias or feeling like 2nd rate netizens with numbers after our name!

The issue is one of spoofing. Someone can come along, name themselves after your kind, brave self, and then go around being a total idiot. A member's professional profile on CodeProject should be protected.
