TCHAR* _tstr = (LPTSTR)(LPCTSTR)_str; //Using the LPCTSTR operator to get the pointer, and then casting the const away. A bad thing to do.

typedef struct X_PStruct *X_P;
struct X_PStruct{
...
};  // <-- look here

typedef struct _X_PStruct{
 ...
} X_PStruct, *X_P;

//Now you can use either way
X_PStruct MyStruct;  //Object
X_P       pMyStruct; //Or just the pointer
