OK, now I think I get it.  I have been clicking the thingy then filling in the blanks - obviously doing things the hard way. FF3, 4, 5 and Chrome ?5 - 12 all behave the same.

Does Chrome not support autolinkify when pasting? FF's done so for a while. Just paste the URL and then optionally type over the (auto selected) text.

Yes, it does - it also supports it (rather nicely) if you highlight a text phrase and paste a link onto it. Auto link with [^] and the highlighted text as the user prompt.

Congratulations! You (plural) have confused me. AFAIK, the effect I noticed is the behaviour of CP's JavaScript in the reply form, not that of the underlying browser. Start a reply and look at the page source, from about line 380 for the next 700-odd lines.

By does Browser X support Y, I meant "Do CP's browser specific scripts for Browser X support feature Y". Generally it's the case that IE and Opera don't get all the shiney new javascript features; the former because it's historically been a giant turd, the latter because it doesn't have enough of a user base for Maunder to feel like spending any time twiddling if the FF/Chrome version doesn't work perfectly out of the box.

I can't reproduce this but from time to time when I open a message it jumps up and out of the visible screen.
Seems to be happening the most when the browser isn't full screen.
