I was thinking some more and agree along the same lines. It seems the change in RPs is shifting CP's emphasis from being a place to post cool code to one of asking and answering questions, i.e. becoming StackOverflow.
If so that's a shame as whereas StackOverflow asks answers specific points CP is often more in depth and introduces concepts and techniques that can be used to write better programs rather than solve immediate problems.

And if a platinum author upvotes your article you get 80 Author points - points that improve your Author standing and give you more abilities on the site. Debator points don't actually give you much other than bragging rights.
I think the balance is fair.

I disagree. In my experience I tend to download all kinds of things that look interesting only to find out they're crap. The really good stuff gets a bookmark.
In other words, the ultimate prize is a bookmark, not a download, at least for me.

I will often go back and review my articles, and then notice something that needs to be amended or may think about adding or changing.
How about having another tab at the top of an article, that is only visible to the author(s) when logged in that contains basically a free text entry that an author can make notes etc. and keep them for later when they want to update the article.
in the online article editor, this text entry area is also visible and the author can refer to it and amend it/remove the stuff he/she has fixed in the article etc.

May be another minor bug in CP.

It's likely. Maybe this is the same bug as the one which sends false positive; when there is slow response by the server, CP sends the message about a failure to post but actually the post is successful. It can lead to double post. In this case I might fail to see the double, now I removed an extra one.
I reported the problem before.
