Hi,
I have an mp3 player which I use for the radio in my car (much easier and faster than burning new CDs all the time).
Today, the radio suddenly wouldn't read from the mp3 player at all (it has been an issue all the time, but most of the time it has managed to start playing from it). So I took it inside and plugged it into my laptop, which then started installing the neccessary drivers, which I thought was odd, as it had been plugged in before. Then, when I tried accessing the drive, it said:
F:\ is not accessible. Incorrect funtion.
No matter what I did, I couldn't get access to it. So, I tried plugging it into my other pc (which is running XP), and it said:
The disk in drive F is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?
When clicking Yes, another box appears saying:
There is no disk in drive F. Insert a disk, and then try again.
Is there any hope of rescuing it? If yes, how?

If its an mp3 player, you probably don't want to format it anyway, since you'll probably end up wiping configuration files if not even software that it needs. Time for a new one... 
I've had one do this in the past, just ended up buying another after trying a few things.

Hi!
I am trying to figure out how the video card talks to a projector. I am trying to code a small device that will be able to display images on the projector. I plan to expand this project, but before I even begin I need to know how I can talk to the projector.
I tried Google, Bing, and CodeProject but couldn't find the answer. I don't necessarily need the code, just a guide, or a paper explaining what happens behind the scenes and what data is exactly sent by the video card.

A video card sends exactly the same signals to a projector as it does to a monitor. It could be VGA/SVGA/XGA/**GA or HDMI or component RGB or just about any other video standard (even composite video  ). A projector, after all, is just a monitor built funny.

OK, here we go:
Preliminar information:
- No UPS sistem mounted.
- Several power cuts.
- Computer that was ON. (yes I know, I know...)
When I try to start up the computer:
The computer can't go further the bios message telling me that I should press F1 to continue as the BIOS has detected some changes (not specified).
If I press F1 nothing happens.
What would you do to recover that computer?

You were right... after a while it has shown a message telling that the battery had died... after using the bios to set a proper date and time the OS has started again...

Try a different keyboard?
If it's getting that far it appears to've POSTed correctly.

ermmm... it is not the same computer I'm using to write those messages... 
Nevertheless I've found what happened... the battery died, the date of the system was resetted and therefore the OS did not started.

I've never heard of a system not letting you into the BIOS or an OS boot failing because the battery was dead before.

Me neither... it is amazing: the user told me that nothing happened this morning... after sitting in front of the computer and pressing F1 to continue after a warning telling me that the battery was dead... the Windows loading bar appeared and after that the mouse cursor on a black background. the fact is that nothing else happened... I've restarted a couple of times the computer and the same happened each time... After that, I've entered the bios and set the correct time and date and then all was back to normal... 
Who knows why but it works...

Its not big, and didnt take long to develope, but its complicated enough. But not a single BSOD during the entire dev test process and its functionally 100% too. (Smug satisfied smile time  )
Thats what 15 years experience gives and what the client pays for. (Even bigger smug smile. )

A friend of mine who bought a second-hand LG V1 Express Dual Laptop, has asked me to reinstall the OS because there was a boot problem. I tried installing Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows Seven. Any OS can be installed, but there is no audio output. All attempts of automatic updating of drivers failed.
However, when I boot with an Ubuntu Live CD (even without installing), I can here the logging-on sound. Could anyone help me find the necessary drivers or fix the problem in some other way...?

Do you see the device within the device manager or no? If you see an item with a question mark, that's usually indicative that the system can't find the right driver, if its there, the problem may be something else (although it may also have picked the wrong driver).
There's programs that allow you to scan the system to identify the hardware installed (this is one I've used)...

Once you've identified the hardware, go to the manufacturer's website to find the appropriate driver.

first go to the device drive:
there is a icon there like a speaker
heres your gonna do:
1. if there is a yellow question mark then it indicates that there are no drivers for your sound output or your driver is not compatible with your laptop
try to install the driver. there are lots of site to get the driver of your laptop
here!
2. try downloading universal sound driver.
there are lots of it on google
Unless your built in speaker is broken

Hi,
I am computer science student and i want to control the room lights via sms sent from remote mobile through gsm modem AT commands send to PC and is further forwarded to microcontroller ATMEGA8 but i donot have any idea how to start with.Can any one give me some circuit diagram based on this microcontroller circuit for controlling room lights through commands sent from pc to microcontroller. I want to connect microcontroller with PC via RS232. For the time being i just want to control one light using one relay. I shall be really thankful if anyone can send me the circuit diagram.
