It just struck me that you guys might have office pools going each time the site is updated to bet on which of the users is most likely to notice a problem first. Is this the case?

I had a professor in college who intentionally put errors in online surveys just to bait me into reporting the errors. And he intentionally swapped the first letters of my first and last name. He and another student were in on the gag and I didn't find out about it until years later.

I switched my CP layout to "fluid", and the answer content seems to ignore the wider screen. The border gets wider and the the rating/links move to the right edges as expected, but the answer content itself appears to be stuck at the "fixed" width. The questions are not exhibiting this trait.

You have to upgrade your BIOS for this to take effect.

Have you tried either of Hans or David's suggestions? Have you tried rebooting your machine?
Most importantly, are you still using that abomination of a browser you keep using just to make my life hell?
I've tested in IE7,8 and the others and can't replicate the issue.

At work, I have to use IE8. At home, I'm using FF4. In both instances, an answer's content that could be wider by virtue of the browser maximized on a 22-inch monitor, is not as wide as it can be. It (the text) wraps a lot sooner than it needs to.
When I changed from "fixed" to "fluid" layout, the page does take up all the available real estate in the window (no gray side panels), but the *answer* content wraps prematurely.
(I'm pretty sure the BIOS update thing was a joke.)

I wish you guys would just turn off the rep points for downloads so that the reduction in points later on (when you adjust it) doesn't hurt so bad.

You could temporarily remove your download hyperlinks...
OTOH, if historical download rewarding and the imminent point reduction were to occur simultaneously, we might not even notice much.

0) When you hover over the stars graphic for the question, you see the popup that indicates what votes were made (distribution from 1 to 5), but you DON'T get that popup for the answers. Instead, you get a popup textbox that provides the current rating and the number of votes.
1) When the distribution popup is displayed, it's not aligned at all with the stars.
Personally, I don't care for the stars and prefer the old bar. Secondarily, it seems to me that the item rating could be displayed under the stars without the need to pop up that text.

Crap by whose definition? I have seen questions downvoted because someone didn't understand what was being asked, but was a perfectly valid question if you had the right knowledge about the subject. And what are you going to do with that rating? At least Luc has a reason for wanting downvotes on articles - so he can avoid those articles in the future. What are you going to do with that rating? Look it up some time in the future, to have a good laugh?
