Great! Thanks!
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Apparently, all CP articles are showing "0 Votes" when you open them

There was an issue this morning but that has been fixed. I'm seeing votes my end...

This article shows five empty stars and "(0 votes)", however it has several "[My vote of 5]" messages attached, and the voting histogram shows 2 fours and 24 fives. Both in FF4 and Chr10. And IE7.

It's an intermittent bug. Matthew and I have just been scratching our heads, looking at two computers on the same server showing different things.
We're on it.

Hi,
If you've got a spare moment & don't mind doing a bit of editorial \ QA, could you have a look at my latest article - Visual Application Launcher[^]
In particular, can you download the source and have a look at the README.txt
Is it clear to you what steps you need to complete to get the application up and running? If you've got all the prerequisites to run the application, could you give it a go?
It's by far the longest article + most complex source I've posted on here....I'm rambling at points....just need a sense check to make sure I haven't forgotten anything critical!
Any feedback appreciated

The readme file seems reasonable to me, except it's called READ-ME-FIRST!.txt
|

Ill give it a try.
If God helps those who help themselves, don't you think we should do the same?

Hi,
I've just uploaded my first article to CP (in fact my first technical article anywhere) and was wondering if people can give me some feedback on it.
What parts on it I did right and what parts on it can be improved on for any other articles I write.
The article is
Comparison between different methods to iterate over a list of items[^]
Thanks in advance
Regards
Michael

I see your article is already published and is viewable by normal members too.
In due course of time, you will surely get lots of feedback via forum present at the end of your article.

I am not able to update an article by uploading a zip, and I am getting a message -
"Please provide a title for your article" which does not exist as text box when updating.

Can you please try again? A bug on that page has been fixed. My apologies.

I suggested to a poster that his content should go in Tips & Tricks, and he asked[^] how to transfer it. As far as I am aware this needs delete and repost. Is there a quicker solution?

I also got this supplementary question from the OP:
deepanjan.das@gmail.com wrote: Appreciate your prompt reply. But I do not see any delete option against my article.
Can you please let me know how to delete an article.
I am not sure of the answer; maybe I should post a dummy article to check out what can & cannot be done. Also, the article appears to have been deleted since he posted the question.

I dropped him a message on the article on where to find the delete.
It is located under the search box top right, but only appears if the article is editable. (i.e. is still unpublished or flagged unedited contribution), The delete icon sits next to the get article html and edit online icons.

I've seen a couple of questions recently in programming forums, all about e-mailing. As I would be interested to know but don't know the best answer to them, I suggest someone who knows to attempt to provide us all with an article on the subject.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, would be this:
assume you wrote an application that will be deployed to a variety of Windows systems in all kinds of networking configurations; now this app occasionally wants to send you an e-mail, e.g. reporting usage statistics or problem situations. What are necessary steps in the app itself, what are recommendations for the local network manager, etc. to maximize the likelihood that sending e-mails will succeed, at best without user intervention. Also, what parameters should be configurable to adapt during installation.
[ADDED] The subject could be extended to automatic uploading of a file to an FTP site, which is expected to have similar hurdles to jump.[/ADDED]
TIA
