As you can see its clearly a quesiotn to Chris about CPs new direction as a general interest site rather than a programming site. (Perhaps we can have Guitar and GW forums too, or French even?)

Thing is, its been done before. and in greater quantity and quality elsewhere on specific guitar forums.
And thats my point.
We arent Latin teachers, or guitarists, or what ever. We are SW engvineers. This is why we are here, and this is what CP represents.
Oh, andx I got the amp working again. In fact even better: The R100 mod, effects loop cable, better valves, its not got a meaty clarity to the crunch instead of trebbly muddiness.

Actually the guitar forum I also frequent has a general discussion forum too, CP, which has three, is unusual, but interesting.
Personally, I like that aspect of CP; that SW engineers from all round the world can discuss sensitive issues in an open frank way. And the discussions can be very funny too.

I am not going to make it a proper article.
I made a suggestion and some people indicated their interest.
I am posting it for a while, then, once it has been critiqued and moulded to make it as good as I can get it, I will be uplifting and putting it on a web page with a pointer in my sig.
I think that will be the best way forward.

I tried moving an answer by OP to where it belongs, but with no success.

The ' in "didn't" is actually non ASCII so was screwing up our decoding. I've corrected this and made a correction to the code for the next upload, and posted the comment.

Thanks, but you just discovered another bug (not actually a bug, but I do not have a word for it).
Current Answer1 was Answer2 when I posted this message. It got voted-up and is now Answer1.
So the comment should have been made to current Answer2.

After seeing this behaviour I was curious how profile answer links work because answer position will always change.
I just went there and saw that the answer links to the post and navigating to #AnswerNo part is done using jQuery.
May I ask you how this is done? The very first thing that came to my mind was you are storing the MemberName/ID in some hidden field or something (when we are navigating to the selected answer) and check that against the answerer MemberName/ID. And then navigating to corresponding answer using jQuery. But this method seems a little complex to me. There muct be some better way.
I hope I will get an answer.

It may be that they didn't realise they did quite that much damage, it's not exactly spelt out anywhere I have found just what points you add / inflict on people.
Real men don't use instructions. They are only the manufacturers opinion on how to put the thing together.

Get use to it. The top heavyweights on this site are able to garner a +40 with a 5-vote and a -16 with a downvote. You will notice that one of these heavyweights is very trigger-happy when it comes to 1-votes. Whats even more amusing is that, as there are not many people blessed with this power, it doesn't take long to work out who it is. Another amusing trait of his is if you accumulate say 7-8 upvotes for one post, he seems to take offence to you gaining this large rep boost, so administers a -16 to compensate. He would make an excellent Traffic Warden methinks.

Assume I'm thick (not a stretch, probably) and enlighten me: who is this person?
Also making me rethink my one vote strategy: seems mighty unfair to so heavily penalise someone, especially those newbies posting articles, etc, that might deserve a one but they shouldn't lose so many points as to deter them forever! A one vote should be -1 and that's it.

Votes and reputation work on volume. Sure, someone can be downvoted, and if an article truly is awful it may be savaged, but generally any article worth anything will have any spurious downvotes balanced out over time. Member reputations go up unless a member truly is clueless or malicious.
As to "the" traffic warden I have to say I find it fascinating the consipiracy theories that are hatched.
