I don't see that marked as an answer!
Generally, an answer gets a light green background without border when your answer score is 4+ after 3 people vote. Currently, the answer in question has 4 votes accounting to total of 5/5 and thus a light green shade. OP, has not marked it as an answer yet. Once he does, surely you should get +25.
Further, for attaining marked answer limit in a day (10), we totally depend on enquirers. It really needs, a good effort from enquirer side, which we all know for now is very very difficult! 
I don't think so that your accepted answer limit must have reached for the day. (Just verified your answer list, surely not the case.)

The different shade is confusing then. I saw that and thought (without checking) it had been marked as the answer.

That has got to be one of the most excellent answers I've seen in awhile. Very in depth and (even for me) simple to understand. Your analysis of how the OP's original code was causing problems was truly icing on the cake. Good work.

John, this is the perfect answer, just one addition. When using Tryparse() the second argument should be an “out” argument and the integer variables have to be initialized/in order to use the “out” key word./
I tried to add this as a comment to your answer, but it will not allow me for some reason /server problem it says/.

nope. that would be true for a ref keyword, out stuff is output only, it promises the caller a value will be assigned no matter what (barring fatal exceptions such as stack overflow).

Also, why is it called Guide to The Code Project in the page?

I know that the The Code Project Discussion Boards[^] (yes, I added an extra the) code is available for download. I'm curious if there are other things, such as your custom log parser, that are also available somewhere? Why isn't that page linked in the "What is 'The Code Project'?" page?
Have a need for that since I'm not too happy with some of the other freely available one.
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to compete with The Code Project.

As far as I know the code in the article was redesigned and rewritten (in fact CP moved to ASP.NET several years ago if you remember). So I don't think any of CP's current codebase is available to download.

The last real update was in Aug 2001. The March 2010 update did nothing but change a few tags to be more html compliant. Like <b> to <strong>. It is just a minor formatting edit although it's not marked as one.

As pointed out, that version is ancient. I bug Maunder about breaking out a new version every few months (consider yourself bugged ) because I want to use it as the basis of a project of my own. The issue is that it's too dependent on the rest of the CP site framework to trivially fork out a standalone version, and various users (myself included) keep providing a steady stream of bug reports/feature requests that take priority.
