am trying to export datagrid in silverlight to excel by using C#. It should be save in .xlsx format.Any one guide me how to do this.

Infragistics provide a datagrid that has export to excel as an inbuilt feature, but this datagrid is not free.

You will need to write some logic to do this.
After capturing the event mouse move event, you will need to make a note of the co-ordinates and then transform to them after multiplying / dividing them by the zoom factor.
Sorry, but I cannot seem to think of anything easier or better.

Has anyone tried to code a SilverLight app to access a locally connected Fingerprint scanner device while staying INSIDE the browser?
I know we know have access to things like USB video and audio, but I am not sure about Fingerprint scanners.
Just curious if anyone has tried it yet...

Not really - knowing the security sandbox Silverlight runs in - I would feel this would not be possible.

No you can't. If the manufacturer provided a COM API, you could accomplish this through the COM OOB experience.

I figured...
You know, I had really expected this to be allowed in SOME manner since this provides a pretty reliable way to authenticate. I would have almost expected that a BIO API device would be allowed. Geeez, they allow you access to the camera and headset while remaining in-browser now, why not a security device

On the WCF side, use ADO.net to get the column names. Return this as a list to Silverlight via the service.
That should do it.

You will need to write a query and execute it(probably using a data adapter) to fetch the column list on the server. You will then pass this back to the client via the WCF service.
