Hello,
Firstly, I am sorry if I write my topic in wrong section cause I couldn't find right topic for it. I just start studying Ajax and using it in my ASP.Net web application. in one article I read this one:
<br />
Ajax is for Action Not Content<br />
<br />
If you're going to put up an Ajax application, or just something Ajax-like on your Web site, first determine if the data you're accessing changes. The point of the asynchronous request is that it makes requests to the server for information that has changed faster - because it's happening while the reader is doing something else. Then when they click a link or button (or after a set amount of time - whatever your distinction is) the data shows up right away.<br />
<br />
If your content or data never changes, then you shouldn't use Ajax to access it.<br />
<br />
If your content or data only rarely changes, then you probably shouldn't use Ajax to access it.<br />
the above sentence is from this http://webdesign.about.com/od/ajax/a/aa092506.htm
in this case, I should use Ajax in my website, when I wanna interact with data? is that true? for instance, like CMS projects or if I have more job with database then using Ajax might help to improve the performance of my database. is that true?
iate
I appreciate if you guys tell me your suggestions.

Ajax doesn't improve the performance of database.
If you understand Ajax properly, you yourself will be in a position to decide whether to use it in your
scenario or not.
For simple CMS project, where contents are static and just for display purpose, I would suggest not to use Ajax.
Different people have different thoughts.

I would like to implement a very simple progress indicator, a '18%' style thing. How do I do this? I have a long running import process that updates a session variable with its progress every few iterations. I have client side code that periodiclally calls a static Page Method to retrieve the progress, but Firebug indicates the POST for this call is aborted, with no error message. Do I have to access the session variable from another page where the import process is not running, or vice versa rather, move the import process to the code hood of the project tree and keep the page for page things, like requesting and repporting import prpgress?

A few months ago I set up a website for a minister friend of my mine. For the secure section of the website I used the standard login.aspx page with the Microsoft Login Control.
The site was published to a third party host so the user login info is stored on the remote SQL Server database. Everything has performed fine for about 8 months until yesterday. He calls me and says that he can't log in! I wasn't worried and told him I would fix it today. Now I am worried! Every attempt to login or reset the password had been unsuccessful!
I've been doing research and it appears that the LoginControl has several bugs.
Here's the main question: Is there any way I can reset the user passwords using another tool? I can log into the remote server using SQL Server Management Studio.
Thanks,
Mr. Depressed

It is not like this.
When your two words exceeds with the specified width, it will move in second line. Thats what it is happening.

Add a NOWRAP attribute. Or wrap it in a NOBR tag.

Hi,
How can I prevent catch on my entire application?

You need to give more detail about your question.
Are we talking about data caching? To the database ?
Or are we talking about page caching? Like .aspx pages ?
Under most circumstances, caching is a good thing, not a bad thing.

yeah sorry it's my mistake
i mean the page catching

Still not helpful. Page Catching??? Do you mean Page Caching perhaps?
I know the language. I've read a book. - _Madmatt

Just add the following lines of code in code behind:
Response.Cache.SetExpires(DateTime.UtcNow.AddMinutes(-1));
Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.NoCache);
Response.Cache.SetNoStore()
If you want no caching for whole website, add it in code behind of Master Page.

A quick search on Google gave me this results[^]. You can check those links, if they can help you. Probably it is something with the Application Pool. Check with FireBug if unnecessary calls are going to the server. Also check whether you are caching large amount of data in the server.

Hi All,
I have a C# application, which inserts or updates values in to some tables in the SQL Server Database. As it does line by line, whenever any insert or update fails, we need to rollback all inserted values. Not only from the same table but from all the tables in which the rows are inserted.
Is there any mechanism to implement it from C# code. Even if it SQL Command I dont have any issues but, I should be able to call that command from C# code. Is there any way to implement all this as one transaction in C# code and roll back it. Is it possible to rollback what is inserted in C# code. Please help me out in this issue.
Any links any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regards,
Md. Abdul Aleem
