I am doing a project in ASP.net 2.0... I want to know whether the username entered by the user during the registration is available or not as the user is entering the name in the text box... I also wat to check the password strength entered by the user..al these requiremnts must be done without reloading the page or without clicking a button.. all these must be done as the user is entering the name r password at the textbox..

Google for XMLHttpRequest or PageMethod... either of them would do. Decide based on your need/ease/understanding.

Hi all,
Im trying to integrate a payment system in my website. for this i have to generate, a private and a public ssl certificate. the public cert is installed on the side of the payment system and the private certificate(.p12) in my webserver.
Now when my website tries to communicate with the payment system, im getting this error:
System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Key not valid for use in specified state. at System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException.ThrowCryptogaphicException(Int32 hr) at System.Security.Cryptography.Utils._ExportKey(SafeKeyHandle hKey, Int32 blobType, Object cspObject) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSACryptoServiceProvider.ExportParameters(Boolean includePrivateParameters) at System.Security.Cryptography.RSA.ToXmlString(Boolean includePrivateParameters) at Datacon.iDeal.SecuritySHA.signMessage(String message, String alias)
I don't know how it comes and how to solve this issue.
Can anyone help me with this please?

There is native dll which executes SHGetSpecialFolderPath() it works while debugging ASP.NET but once deployed to IIS it fails to call that function.
How to increase level of trust web application calling native dlls?

Is the managed Environment.GetFolderPath() method insufficient for your needs?

No native Dll in C/C++ calls that method.
The problem is to allow more privileges to native Dll called from ASP.NET site.
That is not the solution to pull all methods to ASP which are not allowed to be executed from native Dll side.
In any case I solved the issue already, just correct IIS settings management for ASP application security rights 1 parameter to change. I wonder if anyone can hint it.

i use asp.net SQL Server database. Now, what i want is that i heed an idea on how i could b able to post formatted text using a control that gives room for me to click on BOLD, EDIT, UnderLINE and evry other editing nd text formating function/command

I am beginer in ASP.Net and come up with a question. when I use MVC in my project do I Must choose Linq or Entity framework? if I don't wanna use them what is other options.(As I am beginner and before to go further, have to study on other options)

MVC is just a pattern to describe how the objects in your application interact, and what their roles are. See here[^]
Within that pattern you Linq and the Entity Framework are just programming constructs for you to use. As the pattern has been around for many years, I can confidently say that neither are needed for implementing an MVC pattern. You have as many options as there are grains of sand.

Hi guys, what is the best way to check if a LIST<t> contain any elements.
I tried both:
if(ListName.Count > 0)
{
}
else
{
}
if(ListName.Any())
{
}
else
{
}
but both of these give a runtime error if there is nothing(NULL)
in the LIST<t> on the if() statement.
Please help.

NULL and ListName.Count are two separate things.
NULL means the ListName is not initialized yet (so you can't access any properties either).
ListName.Count > 0 means that the ListName object is initialized, but just doesn't contain any items.
What you want to have is:
if(ListName != null && ListName.Count > 0) { }
or
if(ListName != null && ListName.Any()) { }

i have initialised the LIST like so:
LIST<Next_Page> nxt = new LIST<Next_Page>();
nxt = dbh.GetNextPage(cId, "1.1");
if (nxt.Count > 0)
{
}
and should the LIST contain no records i get a runtime error:
index was outside the bounds of the array....yak yak yak.
same applies to when i use Any();

Then the GetNextPage method returns NULL and not an empty list.

Hi All,
I recently joined a new company in that company they are using some sort of files with extension ".hrx" in asp.net web application. When I enquired them about these files they said their purpose is for event handling.
Can anybody give me some information about the hrx file, it uses and samples. Any sort of links any adive anything would be great helpfull.

Never heard of hrx in relation to asp.net event handling. However, an assembly can have any extension and still be an assembly.

I want to know if it's better to add the meta tags (index) and (follow) into my asp webpage in order to get the foundon the search engines?

it is my opinion that meta tags are becoming less and less important and i use only description and keywords. More important on SEO side of life is that we build links to your site and that it has content and says something or does something useful.
