Right - an explanation as to what's going wrong:

<ProgressBar Margin="12" Name="progressBar1" Height="18"  Width="{Binding ElementName=p1, Path=Width}" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />

Drop the HorizontalAlignment, that's overriding the Width.

Secondly - this binds to the ActualWidth, but the Margin has an effect, so the actually means that the progress bar extends beyond the margin of the stack panel. Drop the Width setting altogether as it's not needed.

<ProgressBar Margin="12" Name="progressBar2" Height="18"  Width="{Binding ElementName=p1, Path=ActualWidth}" HorizontalAlignment="Left" />

If you change all this to the following, you get to see the actual effect of what you are doing:

Thanks Pete,

this has now lead to one of those rare occasions where I can't wait util Monday and getting back to work. I would swear I had removed the HorizontalAlignment previously and the progress bars still overran the right margin of the panel... but it was late in the day!

I've got two groups in my datagrid. First one is the main group and the second is the subgroup, what I want to do is hide the Main group and just show the subgroups in my data grid. Here is the code:

ListCollectionView collection = new ListCollectionView(bdata);
collection.GroupDescriptions.Add(new PropertyGroupDescription("tid"));// I want to hide this group but not remove it
collection.GroupDescriptions.Add(new PropertyGroupDescription("PkgName"));// Just show Items Based on this group
dataGrid1.ItemsSource = collection;

Hi,

In my silverlight page i took silver light control : MenuControl 's MenuBar and a image. At run time the menubar's list is hiding back to the image, how to make it view the menubarlist forward of the image at run time.Please suggest me .

In your xaml, set the canvas.zindex property to a higher value (than the image) for the menubarlist control.

Hi all,

I have a canvas ( naming cn ) with MouseButtonDown event, i also have three textblocks in it.

When i press a textblock in canvas, the event is raised with the sender is canvas ( of course ).

How could i get the name of clicked-textblock ?

Binding to an objects member variable in a List

I am somewhat new to WPF and am loving the data binding, but it seems that I am still having a little bit of a rough time getting some things to work, one being this issue. I currently have an object that has a "Name" member variable as well as a few other member variables which I have made public accessors for. I then poulated a global List of these objects from a tab delimited file.

I now have a listbox in my main window that I want to databind to the "Name" variable of each object listed in my List<> of these objects. In my XAML I currently have the below code where m_netObjArr is my global List<networkidobject> which for each of my NetworkIDObjects I want to access their "Name" accessor.

<ListBox Height="Auto" Name="lbNetSelect" Width="Auto" MouseRightButtonDown="lbNetSelect_MouseRightButtonDown" 
                         SelectionChanged="lbNetSelect_SelectionChanged" ItemsSource="{Binding ElementName=window1.m_netObjArr, Path=Name }"/>

1. What is m_netObjArr?
2. If it is a member variable, then is it a public variable?

Variable in a class has to bound like,

{Binding ElementName=window1, Path=m_netObjArr.Name}

{Binding ElementName=window1, Source=m_netObjArr, Path=Name}

m_netObjArr is my public global List<> of my NetworkIDObjects: m_netObjArr<networkidobjects>

NetworkIDObjects is an object containing a number of variables that I populate from an XML file. I want to populate my Listbox with the "Name" variable value for each of the NetworkIDObjects in my List<networkidobjects> and I do have a public accessor for Name. Thanks for your time!

You can bind the list box to the collection and set the display member path property to the property name wich is name in this case and you will have all names displayed in the list

You have to take over the creation of the main form yourself, rather than using the StartupUri. A common way to do this is, in the OnStartup, detect whether or not another instance of the application is running by using a system wide mutex. Here's an example that does a basic level of checking:

private override OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e)
{
  _mutex = new Mutex(false, @"Global\\MyApplicationIdentifier");
  if (_mutex.WaitOne(0, false))
  {
    base.OnStartup(e);
  }
  else
  {
    Application.Current.Shutdown();
  }
}

you have to implement the singleton pattern in this case

move the startupuri attribute form the app.xaml and make the constructor of the statup window as private
then define a static method within the form and instanciate that form within that static method

private LunchWindow()
{
InitializeComponent();
}

static public LunchWindow Singleton()
{
return new LunchWindow();
}

override the OnStartup method of the app.cs and call that static method within the scope of the on startup method

public partial class App : Application
{
protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e)
{
LunchWindow singleInstance = LunchWindow.Singleton();
singleInstance.Show();
}
}

Errm, no you don't. Unless I am missing something really basic here, a singleton has no effect in this case because the singleton is per application domain.

The generally accepted way to do this is to use a Mutex to determine whether or not there is an instance of the application currently running.

WPF App - different page than StartupUri getting called...

I have a WPF app (that I didn't write - I just have the "pleasure" of fixing). The StartupUri in the app.xaml references mainwindow.xaml. But for some reason, I have a completely different page BasicView.xaml that is getting loaded first, prior to the MainWindow. Any idea what could be causing this?
