Hi Freanids,
I am using a Gridview in my project but when i implement sorting on columns its giving following error randomly,
Error is bellow:
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
Kindly help me on this issue, how i resolve it.

Hi Manas,
Thanks for your suggestion on this actually i tried it before but i didn't succeed at that time as the most of comments suggest to add commond timeout attribute in connection string, for now i again implement it at this time no error occured, as i say it was randomly occur so hoping for best.

The query timeout happens for the query. So next time it happens, check the query that is executed. Compare it with the query that does not time out.
Maybe that will help?

I want to rewrite the url based on query string in asp.net with c#. it means if url comes
http://app.tasktrek.in/Citylist.aspx?Id=1
then it should be look like
http://app.tasktrek.in/Citylist.aspx/Noida in url
where Id=1 for noida ,
Also have any solution in which I do not want to confiure IIS?
How to do it in asp.net .

Hi Abhijit I studied the above url that u have sent but i am not getting any changes in url when implement.
Actually i want if incoming url is http://localhost:53365/UrlRewrite/City.aspx?Id=1"
then it convert into http://localhost:53365/UrlRewrite/City.aspx/Noida
where noida is cityname that depends on querysring value.
please help me.

I have stucked in regualar expression replace, please help me out
My scenario is as follow
I need to replace the "Anyvalue" with "SomeValue" in following string where "Anyvalue" can be different in different instance.
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='Anyvalue'?>
Any suggestion would be highly appreciable.

I didn't get this point. You mean, "AnyValue" can be different ? And for that values you want to replace with "SomeValue" ?

Consider the following scenario

I need to replace all above kind of string to
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='XYZ'?>

I am using ajax scriptmanager to update system time on the webpage. the corresponding code was placed in ContentTemplate. The text out side the contentTemplate also refreshing instead of partial refresh of the page.
pls help me.

The easiest way is move your timer control into
<asp:updatepanel>
<asp:timer>

Hi ,
I am using a gridview control and a calender control but the they both are having javascript_dopostback event which does not work if the JavaScript is disable at client browser , please suggest some alternative to this so that the control even work without enabling the javascript at browser end.

If you want to have an application that can work in the environment that has disabled JS then best is to avoid any client side coding in your application.
Whatever you are trying to achieve using javascrip_dopostback - remove it and have a server code for it. Have complete postbacks and perform user interactions server side. Use only server controls and server events. (If your calendar is having any client event, use a server calendar control!)

Hi All,
I am new for the tooltips, my requirement is, I need to have a tooltip which contains tab control in it.
The user selects some options in the tabs. And when user clicks on "Save" button in the tool tip. All the selected values should be saved in the database and tool tip should be closed.
Can anybody advice me, can we do it by using tool tips.
If it possible, please give me small code snippet or links to get some guidance.

I've been asked to create an application that pulls images from an outside database and display it on a web page. Problem is that I don't know what kind of images were stored in the database and there isn't any easy way to tell (images are stored as binary data and no reference to what the images were before being stored in the database). Can this be done at all without knowing the image file types?

Yes!
I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. In ASP.NET Image controls just need to the source of image. Either a path or binary data should do. Are you facing any issues?

Hi All,
I am getting the error message "Unable to start debugging on the web server. The web server is not configured correctly", when I try to run my .Net application.
My application existing in a Virtual Machine, on another machine. I am accesing that virtual machine remotely (using RDP) and trying to run it by using "f5", it is giving me this message, please help me in running the application by using RDP.

Hello,
I learned that, in order to optimize my Web Application for Search Engine, I must implement custom 404 page. But the way Microsoft tell us to implement custom 404 (within Web.Config file), that is not good for SEO. Microsoft says,

<error statusCode="404" redirect="Page-Not-Found.aspx" />
</customErrors>
But when the page is not found, IIS issue 302 redirect to Page-Not-Found.aspx page which is not good. So, I implemented custom 404 page using Routing technique that is available in ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 and 4.0. I used the following router in Global.asax page,
routes.MapPageRoute("404", "{*url}", "~/Page-Not-Found.aspx");
And amazingly it works. I just cant believe it was so that easy. So far I understand, Routing does not issue 302 redirect, so the first purpose is served. But how can I make sure that, when Page-Not-Found.aspx page is shown, Not Http 200 status, rather Http 400 status is issued. I placed this code in the Page_Init method of my Page-Not-Found.aspx page,

Response.StatusCode = 404;
}
But I am not sure if that will solve the problem or not. Will the page send Http 200 status code to the Browser before this 404 code ? If so, then, the purpose wont be served. So, please help me with the answer, How can I enfore the status code 400 in the Page-Not-Found.aspx so that Http 200 code is NEVER sent to the browser ?
