I've made a little TCP class library with two (three) classes:
CTcpServer
CTcpClient
(CSocketException)
I want someone that can try it, analyse it, bla bla and tell me if you like this and if I've done a good job for sucha a little library... 
Just give me tips to make it better, bug free (if it has any bugs)...

Hi all,
My new start-up company gate39MEDIA is looking for ASP.NET developers interested in working on a freelance, or profit sharing basis to work on Japan related web sites for clients, and for in-house use. We currently, own and operate www.japanshoten.com and www.gate39.com an e-commerce site, and web zine on Japan respectively.
I would prefer to work with someone in the Chicago-area, but am open to long-distance collaboration. Also, you'll need some Japanese language ability read/write/speak -- although you do not need to be 100% fluent. At least two years of Japanese is suggested.

We've all seen the various stages of development for a product... alpha, beta, release candidate, release to manufacturer. I'm looking for something that does a good job of explaining EXACTLY what each stage involves. So many times you see people just talk about their software listed as Beta and RTM.
My team is working on a new project and our customer has requested we use this staged development. Anyone have a good reference out there?

"alpha" and "beta" have been so overused that they have lost their meaning. "alpha" is rarely heard anymore. "beta" can mean anything from "don't sneeze or it'll crash" to "almost done, just a few things left to do." So these days anything pre-release is called "beta".
RC = release candidate
RTM = release to manufacturing

I'm using the following, but I'm not quite sure it's a standard:
Alpha: early version, not all functionality, quite unstable
Beta: all functionality (or mostly), still not very stable
RC: in the transition cycle, when the feature set is frozen, stable but still minor bugs
RTM: transition closed, the version is really stable, all documents are up-to-date, support is transfered to 1st line

I use the following:
Alpha - Release to other developers, usually with full source and run in "debug" mode.
Beta - Release to other developers and a select few who are possible stake-holders in the release (i.e. people who need the new functionality asap, bugs and all) for testing and quasi-production. Note, the build is likely still debug, but the application stands on its own.
Release Candidate - When the product has all* bugs worked out, and an installation program has been built for the release, I will distribute the product to those users within my personal knowledge who really want it. The application is "release" build now, with optimizations and no debug info.
Final Release - That's it. After any last-minuite updates, a new Install is built, and release is available for anyone who wants it.

Hi,
I just finished writing my first project in C# and I was thinking of releasing it somewhere as freeware. It works on my XP Pro computer but I haven't tried it anywhere else. Would anybody like to try it out for so I can figure out if it works on other OS's? E-mail me if you want to try it and I'll send it to you (about 18 Kb).

Hi,
I am using Mapi session logon method to logon to exchange and sc server.I have to select a profile with which i logon to servers.For this there is a dialog box.On ok click of this box two more boxes appear asking inputs for SC and exchange.
How can i avoid these 3 boxes and still be able to communicate to both the servers and retrieve there infostores.

I am currently developing an MFC plug-in architecture that will allow you to create plug-in DLLs for an application. When I get the initial release working for all window messages (currently only works on WM_COMMAND stuff), I would like to spread it out to a few beta testers who can try and hammer it a bit more than I may have the time to myself.
So, if you would like an early copy of the source and to get mentioned in the article when its complete (possibly as a co-author depending on the level of contribution), then leave a message and email address here (or mail me direct) and when beta 1 is ready I will send it out with some early docs on how to use it.
If possible I would like to post your application and its plug-in(s) source as examples on the article as well. The more examples the better.
UPDATE
The library is now working for all windows messages and command messages for a view and all command messages for a document. I will be extending the library to support all view types and document/mainframes etc over the next few days, at which point it should be ready for beta.

I'll be very interested. In fact, I am trying to develop such a thing myself, but haven't figured out all the details yet. It'll be interesting to see how you do it.
Although I cannot promise I'll necessarily be able to come up with an example app very soon. It is because of so many other things that are keeping me busy. I hope that's OK with you. But I'll definitely try to give you my inputs as far as your main thing, ie the plugin framework itself, is concerned, because that is what I am really interested in.
Any chance of accompanying docs too?

That sounds cool. What I really need is people to test the code in earnest and point out problems/flaws.
Examples are a bonus, but I have a few planned.

My host moved my site to another machine last night. I guess they took a snapshot of it before I had finished developing the guestbook. If you've been getting a page with just my name on it, that's why. It should be fixed now.

Two suggestions:
1. I was able to enter "garbage" characters in the name fields. It might be possible to enter sequences that cause application or database problems. You may want to filter fields for legitimate entries only (and no profanity).
2. It would be nice if guest email addresses were blind. Otherwise spammers can get them.

Tried a few things, but could not find anything really harmful (on the server side). Seems like you could put html commands in the URL field, however..

I'm releasing a new product, 1ClickPicGrabber, in a few days, and would like some input (and testing of course!) from my fellow CPians. Grab the pre-release installer here[^]. (Product page here[^])
Purpose of the product:
1ClickPicGrabber installs a toolbar extension in IE. The toolbar has a Grab button, which when clicked, collects the URLs of all pictures on the page, all links to pictures, or links to movies, and sends them to the background downloader app. The downloader then downloads and organizes the grabbed files for you in your My Documents dir.
This is far and away better than existing grabbers. Most of them are standalone apps, which require you to copy & paste pages or URLs into them. With 1ClickPicGrabber, it's right there in IE and one click on the Grab button gets you started.
Requirements:
OS: 98, 98SE, Me, NT 4, 2000, XP
IE: 5.01+ and the Active Desktop shell (most features should work OK without the AD shell on NT 4, but this is not guaranteed or supported)
