apply changes to a xml file on the internet

Hi i want to share a xml file between some companies.for this reason i uploaded this file to the internet and use it for sharing and set its permission to 777....

don't problem for reading that....

XmlTextReader reader = new XmlTextReader(carDBPath);
XmlTextWriter writer = new XmlTextWriter(url, Encoding.UTF8);
 
while (reader.Read())
{
    writer.WriteNode(reader, true);
}
 
reader.Close();
writer.Close();

now, assume that i change its information and want to apply this changes to base file in the internet....

i don't want to work with FtpWebRequest or any class like this that works with ftp to upload file...

how can i do this?

I generally don't think it's such a great idea to let these companies share a single xml file (why not use a database instead?) but to answer your question: Try using a web service to send and receive the file.

Hi guys, I've tried to add a prompt to display a dialog box when the user pressed a button, it seems an error surfaced when I run the program. The error showed, "no overload for method "Show" takes '3' arguments." May I know what went wrong, any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance =) Here is the code snippet below.

if (MessageBox.Show("Are you sure?","Save data", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo) == DialogResult.Yes)
   {
      //Do tasks

Hi Rahul, thanks for replying, does it look something like this when I added the fourth argument? I've tried it, but the error still surfaced and this time it shows, "No overload for method 'Show' takes '4' arguments.

Hi Rahul, I think I've done it. After adding the next argument, "MessageBoxDefaultButton", the prompt worked, thank you so much =)

If you need to check something like this again, place the cursor after the open brace of the method, and use CTRL+space - this makes IntelliSense show you the various possible overloads for any documented method, including your own. Use Cursor Up and Down to scroll between them.

First of all i want to tell you that in Web form there is no option for message box its available in window form but if you still want to use message box then write this code:

using system.window.form.*;

and perform this change

I have some project that behave like emule,edonkey etc.

now I need to get decision about technology and language

the project bigest and significant part its Networking and Security.

I'm c# developer(vever worked with c++).

Now I need to decide how to develop this project c? c++? c#?

any suggestion ?

Since you know C#, answer is very obvious.

.NET framework comes with good networking related classes and those are very straightforward to use and their socket implementation is quite good. If you are using C++ or C, you need to find a good socket implementation and other networking libraries or write your own. This can be time consuming as you don't have any experience on these languages. If you are still interested in C++, take a look at POCO[^], they have got nice networking libraries.

Is emule open-source?

But Now I'm trying to be "Diablo Advocate" and to understand all pro and cons

of using C++ vs C#.

my App going to be very corelated to HardWare Network so maybe better solution is c++, is it correct?

In C++ it is easy to do low level stuff. But, my point was that since you are not comfortable with that language, it is better to use the one which you are good at. C++ has got a steep learning curve and you will run into lot of problems at the beginning. If you are OK with that, C++ will be definitely a good choice.

}

now i wanna to have these :

in line 5 the exception occurred and i=0 made the exception;

Stack trace will have these details. You have to parse the stack trace and extract this information.

Move i outside the try/catch block so it is visible in all sections, something like:

int i;
try
{
    i=0;

}

i=0 didn't cause the Exception; it's j/i.

You could put the three statements each in its own try/catch.

You could keep track of where you were in the process:

int x;

try
{
x=0;
int i=0;

x=1;
int j=2;

x=2;
int k=j/i;

x=3;
}
catch(Exception e)
{
string err="";

switch(x)
{
case 0: err = " caused by i=0" ; break ;
case 1: err = " caused by j=2" ; break ;

Use Ctrl+Left/Right to switch messages, Ctrl+Up/Down to switch threads, Ctrl+Shift+Left/Right to switch pages.
