Hi all,
GetVersionEx function use to find out os details of current os of machine.
i want to find out the client os version on server machine.
can u please tell me how can i do this.

I've no idea if there exists a better method, though I'd be inclined to simply query the registry on the server.
Should this be a viable method (security settings may well prevent it) then you may want to check the values of the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
- ProductName
- ProductId
- RegisteredOwner
- CSDVersion
- BuildLab

Have you tried NetGetServerInfo?
But I suppose it requires MS Active directory , but I'm not sure...Life is a stage and we are all actors!

NetServerGetInfo function return only server details.
i want to find out details of all client those are connected with server.

To retrieve all computers which are visible from the current domain use NetEnumServer.Next pass each these names to NetServerGetInfo to retrieve OS details for clients.Life is a stage and we are all actors!

one more thing i want to know.
please tell me what is the valid number o os version.
because some time my network printer and fax machine also detected by NetServerEnum .
so i want to ignore these.
so if i able to check this have a valid os version no or not,i able to ignore there from detection.
or tell me if there is any othe better way to know this.

I have a problem. Don't know the exact reason.
I have created an MFC project which has a default dialog which is having Shockwave player ActiveX. This dialog is derived as
class MyClass : public CAxDialogImpl<MyClass>, public IDispEventImpl<IDC_SHOCKWAVEFLASH1, MyClass>
When I run this project or exe it get's load fine.
But when my setup runs it by choosing "Launch Now" option after successful install then it does not run. DoModal() returns -1 at this time.
While if I run it by "desktop shortcut" or "program files" shortcut then it runs fine again.
Any suggestion or solution.

I have a program which reads a file from web. That file contains unicode (UTF-8) chars. I used below code for my operation, but it shows junk chars while reading file, please suggest a solution to me.

| First problem you have is that UTF-8 is not Unicode; which one is your file? I am not an MFC expert, so you need to check whether Cstring and CStdioFile need any settings to indicate the character type of the data. MVP 2010 - are they mad?

| You need to convert the UTF-8 to whatever encoding you're using for CString. Have a look at this article[^]... Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

I don't know: you should read the API reference documentation at MSDN. Anyway I suppose it works on Microsoft Operating Systems since Windows XP (i.e. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7).

I use the following code;
ICDBurn *burner = NULL;

but it gives error while function calling
burner->HasRecordableDrive(&bResult)
Error is "Access violation reading location 0x00000000"
I think pointer for ICDBurn is not created. What will be the problem. I have to add additional files for that?Abhijit

Look at your code - have you tried to create the burner object? No. And it crashes. What a surprise.
A simple Google search finds this result[^], which is a tutorial with complete code for burning a CD.
Try using some initiative - Google should be your first port of call for a programming question.Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

Can i use any API like nero for writing/ reading the CD?.
