crystal report is not working in server - ASP.NET Discussion Boards

Hi I wrote this code
string root=server.mappath(~/);
or
string root=server.mappath(~);
or
string root=server.mappath(/Project);
but it does not work,

suppose your report mypersonal.rpt is in Reports folder then u can use
string root = Server.MapPath("~Reports/mypersonal.rpt");

otherwise
string root=Server.MapPath("mypersonal.rpt");

but what about if i have the report in a separate project.
e.g report.dll

so, then how can I use Server.MapPath()?

The Server.MapPath method maps the specified relative to the corresponding physical path on the server.
As for Example.

Server.MapPath("MyFile.txt")

will return the Physical path for file that you have specified ( assume that it is located on root )

Server.MapPath("~");

This returns your root directory Path

please help me sir.i am new in asp.net and i am developing an application on asp.net.and i am using crystal report.sir my crystal report is working fine locally.but sir it is giving error on server when it loads.and the error message is this .

An error has occurred while attempting to load the Crystal Reports runtime.

Either the Crystal Reports registry key permissions are insufficient or the Crystal Reports runtime is not installed correctly.

Please install the appropriate Crystal Reports redistributable (CRRedist*.msi) containing the correct version of the Crystal Reports runtime (x86, x64, or Itanium) required. Please go to http://www.businessobjects.com/support for more information.

i am unable to understand that what could be the problem.and for crystal report i am adding following assemblies in web.config and same dll in my bin folder.

This may be the problem with the version of crystal report

Install the same version of crystal report in server which you r using in local..
may be tht may help..!

but which application i am running locally same application i am deploying on server.but i am facing the problem on server.while all the dll's in web.config and bin folder are same as locally running application on server.

You can add the vb class in a project that is written in C# by converting the class file int a dll file .

Creating DLL for each file is not a good practice. Poke tongue | ;-P

. If there are multiple cs and that can be compile into a single dll. For single code file we can easily put into App_code folder with some Config file change. Wink | ;)

You can add VB class file inside App_Code Folder with in a new folder like,

App_Code > VB Class > MyVBFile.vb
and create another folder ( like :CSharpClass ) where you can put all of C# class file

Now, open Web.config file and do the following entry,

<compilation>
<codeSubDirectories>
<add directoryName="VBClass"/>
<add directoryName="CSharpClass"/>
</codeSubDirectories>
</compilation>
