Google Chrome allows you to resize most textboxes. Perhaps you could use that as a temporary workaround until the CP staff gets this fixed.

I have the page still open in one of my FF tabs. I don't see how Chrome would be able to get at the text.
Are you saying my best gamble is to hit "Post Message" anyway and publish an unfinished message? (that would throw away the edit page in my FF tab)

Hmmm, didn't know you were trying to save the text you are currently typing in the textbox. Try this...
Click into the textbox for the subject line. Press tab so focus is set to the main textbox. CTRL+A (select all) then CTRL+C (copy). Paste that into Notepad then close your window and make a new reply (paste in the text that is in Notepad).

Great suggestion. I didn't think of that. Unfortunately it does not work. Tabbing away from the subject box seems to activate the entire page: a CTRL/A selects everything I can see, CTRL/C and CTRL/V to Notepad yields all text but the piece I'm after.

same as when one tabs away from the message edit box on a regular reply page.

Problem "solved" in two ways:
1.
with some FireFox/FireBug magic, based on luck more than proficiency, I was able to inspect the current HTML (did not show the message edit box!), but also the "DOM", and that was happily showing what I entered.
2.
hitting the "Post Message" button resulted in a funny error page stating two problems:
- you must supply some content
- there were problems with your new message
however, dismissing that page returned the original message edit page, with everything visible and present!
So the acute problem is gone. I still hope to learn which key combination resulted in this phenomenon, and then, how to disable it!

I think that's a control device implemented by CodeProject. It seems your posts are routinely too long, so it's trying to send you subtle messages to keep the noise to a dull roar.

0) A circular scatter chart that would post a dot for each user at a distant point along a radian line indicating their distance between 0 and the highest current reputation value. The first user plotted would be at radian 0, the next at radian 1, etc. Finally, your own position in the chart would be indicated by a single thin black line that goes all the way around the chart.
1) A pie chart that shows the percentage of users in a certain reputation range, such as 0-25,000, 25000-50,000, etc.

AFAIK no one but CG exceeds 100K; the runner up seems to be Dave Kreskowiak at 90K (that's .53 CG).

Even so, I can't imagine there being less than a few thousand discrete values. At one radian per discrete value you're still looking at hundreds of spirals...

Would it be feasible to only disallow someone from 1-voting a message less than two minutes from posting his/her last 1-vote? This would hamper/slow down the vengeful 1-voters that crop up here from time to time.

IMO voting rights should be throttled based on the voter's reputation. Say a maximum of totalrep/10 votes (whatever value) per five minutes. That way more active CPians can still operate quasi unlimited.

Allow us to find threads with named participants, like this
john simmons / outlaw programmer,chris maunder,aspdotnet
The search would result in any thread that contained *all three* named participants.
An additional check box labeled "ALL" (and that would be checked by default), when unchecked, could be used to allow the searcher to search for any of the named users. Maybe the current search-by-user functionality could be modified without much trouble.
