I have some Grid View and Details View associated with an AccessDataSource.
I use paging and with some button I change the SELECT in SelectCommand of the AccessDataSource. If the result of SELECT is in more than one page, when i click on the second page (or more) the SelectCommand will refresh to the initial SELECT, so i lost the results of the SELECT.
The AccessDataSource will be refreshed with the page.
How can i resolve this problem ?

Hi,
At present I have written a code which reads the data from an excel sheet.
Question:
How is it possible to read from the first sheet of the excel file? The first sheet can have any name.
This is what I am using but IO would like to refer to the first sheet rather than the name as I am doing here:
OleDbDataAdapter cmd = new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM [Data$]", strConn);

Hi,
Not sure how automated of a process you are looking for, but a simple fix is to add a way to pass in the name of the first sheet - text box if graphical interface, or command line parameter if console app. During your processing you would swap out the name in the string:
string strSheet = "Sheet1"; // assign appropriate user entry here
OleDbDataAdapter cmd = new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM [" + strSheet + "$]", strConn);
// alternately, replace with string builder if you want to be more efficient...

I have a GridView with 100 rows and 1 column 5 page. How can I do to this GridView show the same data, but with 4 rows and 5 columns 5 page? In ASP.net 2.0

I will suggest to use Repeater control with page size 20 for the it.
In your ItemTemplate, put your data in a div tag with style float:left; and fixed width say x.
Put your repeater control in a div tag with width say 5x (5 times div of ItemTemplate).
Thats it!
You can get the desired result.

Like what you're trying to achieve, what you have available hardware-wise, the technologies involved (e.g. with Silverlight you can push down alot of the processing to the client machine rather than clogging up the server) etc...etc...
Although in most cases it's better to do things on the server (makes the app appear more "snappy"), I tend to try to farm out anything I can to the client to alleviate some of the strain on the server (we do pretty large scale enterprise apps).
(Sometimes I think I'm just going around in circles - years ago, everything was on the client, then thin clients and server-based apps became the vogue, now I'm pushing things back down to the client again...)
C# has already designed away most of the tedium of C++.

I declared AJAX ModalPopupExtender in a GridView control in-place of loading a new page to get details of a selected data from the GridView. I succeeded in displaying the Popup but can't my server code running.

I am sorry, I cann't find formatting toolbar in (the forum) write new post editor.
It is well formatted here (in my .aspx page and the code behinde file).
Just try to understand my message (I cannot pass the value on my GridView to Label, maybe because I used the ModalPopupExtender, because, I got the selected value from the GridView when I removed the ModalPopupExtender).
Could ModalPopupExtender stops server code from running?
Do you have any JavaScript code that could just behave like the ModalPopupExtender? I think I can proceed from there.

If you have used XML style comments, you can do that through the /doc switch to get everything in an XML file.
Otherwise, you can use File.ReadAllLines methods and extract lines starting with "//". Apart from this also extract lines starting with "/*" till the line that ends with "*/".

Hi experts,
How can I update my MySql Database which is online on Windows Server from my local database. One way is to upload the database to the server and than I can make connectionstring. But what if I don't want to upload entire database and just like to insert few flagged rows.
Is there any option to make connectionstring from my pc to webserver. I have heard about Soap and webservice but don't know the exact solution.
Can anybody help me in this regard.

Hi,
what do you mean by "not working". If the date is not displayed in the culturezone you have choosen, you have to format the date using a specific cultureinfo.

E.g. for the german style (dd.MM.yyyy) use this:
