Hi,

I am using a webservice on my main website I want to debug the given webservice with particular input parameters.

Is it possible to debug a webservice by placing breakpoints so that the user can directly jump to the webservice when it is called?

I hope You are getting my point.

If your site is hosted on IIS Server then you need to attach the process. Here is my two articles for same.
For Local IIS server :

For Remote Debugging :
Remote IIS Debugging : Debug your ASP.NET Application which is hosted on "Remote IIS Server"[^]

Hi Abhijit,
The first article describes about the IIS beautifully but I have a problem here, You said that I can see the w3wp.exe running on my task manager but I cannot see this what does this mean?; On the other hand I have hosted my webservice on the IIS which is running beautifully?

Please explain

What is the version of your IIS ?
if it is IIS 6.0 or more, you will get "w3wp.exe"
if you are having IIS 5.1 then you will have aspnet_wp.exe

OH! thanks,

One more thing: I have a website running on production server when I connect through my LAN to that server do I need to have User Id and Password for that system to connect to it, and through which port I will be connecting to it so that I can create an exception on firewall.

Remember a Web service is like a Method in another Class , but lets say you only have a DLL and you add a Reference to that DLL. You will can add a breakpoints where you create an object of the Class fill the Time you call the functions of that class , but you can walk through the DLL. you need a Source code for that. Same Applies to the web service, you can walk through it.

Hi,
I created one Java script function, its validating between two cells from gridview , like if(cell[1] < cell[2]) if it so i am populating alert("wrong input"); return false;

if its false then the Text Change event should not fire from Code behind..but This event is fired even function return True/false.. That to i was called the Javascript function in Onblur event ...can u give me the Solution for this issue???

How you invoking you event? Is it through js?

There's a possibility of having some error in your js, if so, the event will fire weather it's true or false.

can i upload multifile in one time ? in c#
e.x. for one file upload i wrote :
protected System.Web.UI.WebControls.FileUpload attach;
attach = new FileUpload();
item.Attachments.Add(attach.FileName, attach.FileBytes);

but now i want 3,4,5,... files in one time

You have create your own control or you have to use 3 party control in asp.net.

There is no built in asp.net control that can upload multiple file.

Add 3 or 4 or 5 Upload Controls and add one Button that Will do the Upload for all these Control. add a Progress Bar so that your users will know what is happening.

When you place more than one fileupload control, all the chosen files will be sent on submit of the request.

You will find each file in its file collection..

yes its Possible. Use the Upload control and set the destination of the File to your "App_Data" that is always shipped with your application or use the relative path.

Your variable strimage returns correct path?! It seems to me that isn't correctly initialized.

the easy way to find the path is to ..!
drop an image control and go to properties set the image url to the image which is stored in the folder..!and copy the path from the source which will generate by VS..!

I might be missing something blindingly obvious here but you don't need to call Server.MapPath when setting an image url. Server.MapPath will give you the physical location on the server disk which is useless when the web page is sent to the client.

Server.MapPath will return the actual physical path which wont work as an image url. If you want to generate the virtual path at run time use Page.ResolveClientUrl method instead.

Hello there

I've a website that allows a user to create and download a document. I first save the file in the server and then let the user download it. This works just fine. But when multiple users try to do this, they must create their own copy of the file in the server. Can somebody suggest a foolproof way of naming the file - so that everyuser downloads only their copy of the file.

string uniqueFileName = Guid.NewGuid().ToString();
