but can u tell me how can i Start programing for software and Internet Application software....and OS making software ? Which programing languages are best for me to start.

Not really the right forum, but at least you're polite about it.
It all depends on what you're interested in doing. Java is useful for both desktop apps and web apps; if you're interested in learning more about Java, I'd recommend 'Core Java' for Java SE6, by Horstmann and Cornell. Java's big selling point is that you can build cross-platform apps - that is, you can, for instance, write a desktop app that'll run on Linux, Mac OsX and Windows. Another main platform for web development, and a popular platform for desktop development on Windows, is .Net. (You may have heard of it around here. ) If you're interested in working with .Net, and perhaps learning C#, pick up a good book on .Net basics and start with it. I really can't recommend a current one; the last one I bought was 'Programming .Net', by Jeff Prosise, but it's way out of date.
Do yourself a favor. Pick a language/platform, buy a good book, and read it cover to cover; not necessarily one of the ones I've mentioned, but a good one. Don't get some 'programming for dummies' type book... unless you consider yourself to be one, of course. Take the time to plow through it. It won't be easy, but nothing worthwhile is, right? If you work at it, it'll show, and people won't torch you for asking questions.

Buy a good book about the subject. That's always the best option when starting something new and it is far more efficient than learning from some tutorials on the web.

no, i don't like C# to be the first language learned. One simple point is the visual editor. It makes it easy to create a User Interface, supports you in building your app - but you do not learn how to write this stuff!
start from a really simple point, do some small projects with simple text output, and buy a good book to read all about the methods you try to use. Those books do not need to be expensive [check this]. But you need to read in them, not just stuff them into your bookshelf.
Java is non-commercial - you can get all the stuff you need for free. And most of the new languages are based on java. Google uses it much - check out the GWT[^] for example. (dont use it yet, it's much to complicated without knowledge!)

You choose, it doesn't really mater.
I will chip in with saying BUY A BOOK. Make that 2 books.
Even though printed material goes out of date, it has one big advantage that you can make notes on it and read, and re-read, to your heart's content.
Learn the theory, understand the differnce between primative data types and objects. Use an easy to learn language - both C# and java are suitable - to practice. But if you really want to learn and do well, understand the basics and learn to walk before you try to run.

You can learn C# from Charles Petzold's excellent introduction[^]. You can use Microsoft's Visual C# 2008 Express Edition[^] for free, and learn the basics for no cost. You can do the same with Java[^] of course. In the end it is up to you to decide which language to focus on, but you may like to compare the number of C# articles to the number for Java on this site, as a guide to which language is more popular.

Not necessarily; but it may mean that more people are learning and using C#. Which, perhaps, may mean there are more people to call on for assistance. Personally, I have no preference on language. I am primarily a C/C++ developer, but I have used Java quite a lot, and am learning C# now.

Hi,
you won't find a single language that is best for all of those domains.
OS programming isn't handled well (or at all) by either .NET languages (such as C#) or Java.
almost anything CAN be done in C or C++.
Windows programming is great in .NET, especially in C#.
Mobile devices are best served by Java, unless they support .NET, then C#.
The easiest to learn are C# and Java (and both are rather similar).
Conclusion: if you want to do it all, you'll bound to use a couple of languages.

Installing multiple copies of Java on a single machine is a fairly trivial task. If you give us more information about what you are trying to achieve or what problems you are having, we might be able to help you more with your problem.

i want to install different versions of java or can say that jdk or jre in same directory.
so for this i want to develop te code or software which will be showing different version of jvm that are being instaled and when i try to install a new version then it will show the previous one that it is already there and will show the new one which i want to install and when i select the new one then it will install it.when i want to or wish that jvm will run according to it.

From a simplistic view, when you run a program it will be launched using the correct jre. You should not need to worry about installing multiple runtimes as they are designed to be able to run different versions on one physical box.
At development time, if you use netbeans you can specify the runtime to use; the information is in the help files.

You can install more than one vm and choose on the preferences which vm eclipse should use - and you can choose which vm the specified project should use.
It's better to keep your vm updated and simply switch compilance levels.

FlapJacks
For this exercise, you will simulate a stack of flapjacks that gets flipped. The stack is really just an array of integers. The flapjacks always start out in regular numbered order. For example, a stack of 10 flapjacks would look like this:

Now, you will let your user "flip" all or some of the flapjacks by entering a number, which is the index of the number under which to put the "spatula". For example, if I want to flip the first 6 flapjacks I would call flip of index 5, which would change my flapjack stack to look like this:

Your mission consists of two methods. You have to first figure out how to perform the flip operation, then you should create a method that figures out how to flip any mixed-up stack back into original order. You CANNOT just make a new array that is sorted and return that. You must "flip" the stack back to sorted order. You should also not flip randomly until it is sorted. Although chances are that this will eventually work, it will take a very long time for large stacks. Your code should call the flip method and the find method that is given to you.
This is a logic puzzle. The code is easy if you can figure out the algorithm...
