Some suggestions...
Seems like some users forget to accept answers to their questions (they may not even realize that feature exists). Perhaps send out an email 3 days after the last answer to let the user know they should accept one of the answers?
Also, it would be nice to be notified of activity on a Quick Answer question. Sometimes I'll post a possible solution and the OP will add another "answer" asking for more information, but I am never notified of their post.
Visual Studio is an excellent GUIIDE.

BTW, it seems only both of us are having problems. Hamsters hate us.

There's a forum at the bottom of the question page. We were thinking of eventually getting a forum attached to each answer as well but in the mean time you can use that for discussion purposes.

I think they do it on purpose because they get some sort of sick satisfaction from seeing us post bug reports. I once had a teacher that did that... there was an end of year survey that students (including myself) took. Apparently, my teacher purposely put typos in it just to grin when I told him about the errors. I suspect the hamsters are having similar fun; it's the only way to explain our plight.

I think both types of notification would be useful in some form or another. Let me talk this one over with the team.
BTW, keep an eye on the forum at the Quick Answers landing page. There's a Change Log sticky that we're maintaining. Also, it'd be great to have future conversations about Quick Answers in that forum.

Any time I press Ctrl + F5, it just increases the view count by one. This would place the question on top in the Most viewed tab even if actually it is not true.

I'm not sure what other behaviour you are expecting. If you hit Ctrl+F5 you are forcing a non-cached refresh which means the question has been viewed again. It's "View count" not "members-who-have-read-this count".

Latter would be good. Or something like view would be counted only if the window was re-opened. Because I tend to get desperate for new replies on some posts. Hence me doing Ctrl + F5 a lot will boost the view count. Although that will not be actual.
Just a suggestion from my side.
PS: Anyways, I am not sure one can differentiate between Ctrl + F5 and new window through code.

I agree uniques vs views would be more accurate, but do the benefits of, what is really just a guideline value anyway, warrant the plumbing and data storage requirements?
My vote is that it's good enough for the purpose it serves.

When attempting to post suggested code changes to an article that involved emitting javascript code I found that the only way I could get the code I wrote included in my reply was to turn on do not interpret and not surround the code with a code block. It appeared from what was not shown that some of my code[^] was being seen as an attempt to inject malevolent code - or am I just doing something wrong?

If you try and insert "<script" directly then the system sees you trying to insert a literal HTML SCRIPT block into the forum which is a no-no.
You need to HTML-encode the <script part so that, in the editor, you end up entering "<script".
When you paste code into the editor, and you have "Encode HTML tags when pasting" checked then this encoding is done automatically. If you don't have this checked, or you type the code directly, then you either need to HTML encode (to ensure you're not entering literal HTML) or check the "Do not interpret HTML tags" so the system will HTML encode automatically.

Excellent Question. I think what would be ideal for me would be to have the
<pre> tags signal that anything in between should be encoded.
Otherwise you can end up with something like the above, all to get the tag to show up.

No rep from fixing forum postings 
If we auto-encode stuff within pre tags then it means you can't use HTML within those tags so you can't highlight or make bold parts of the code.
