Hi,
I'm trying to generate a key press with C#, so that it can be picked up by another app. I tried to use the SendKeys class to achieve what I'm looking for
while (true)
{
SendKeys.SendWait("{F1}");
Thread.Sleep(500);
}
which works for most apps I tried (FireFox, VS2008 etc), but not the app I'm looking to control - Frets on Fire[^]. I was told that the problem might occur because FoF doesn't deal with windows messages, but instead, polls the input device (keyboard) directly.
Is there an option to simulate the behavior of an actual keyboard (write directly to the memory responsible for keyboard or something), or applying some other workaround?

The only thing I can think of would be to write your own keyboard driver (cannot be done in C#!) and have it generate key states on demands of an external application.
Don't ask for examples, I don't have any.

I think I've found the problem. FoF reacts to the sendkey events, only I believe they are too quick to have any effect. I'm trying the SendInput solution now, which is not going so well, as I lost even the functionality I've had with SendKey (im probably doing something wrong).
How would "hold down" a button programatically?

edit: I've also tried the keybd_event() thingie (with DllImport) and it gives same results as SendKey (only sending one command on key down), the key released command seems to have no effect also.

Hello,
I need to migrate a COM written in C++ to C#.
Is it possible to use the same CLSID (GUID) for both?
I ask this because after i remove the C++ component, i will install the C# one and i dont wan't to change any app that are using the old component.
is it possible? or will be some conflicts?

I am tryng to save my changes in one section the App.config, but I am not able, I get the values contained using the ConfigurationManager.GetSection, and the Class with inheritance of ConfigurationSection, but later I change the values of the properties and call to config.Save but the values don´t change in App.config.
Please any suggestion

Dear all,
I have a two projects in in my solution.
the first one is a windows service and the second project is a asp.net project.
The purpose of the asp.net website is to cofigure the configuration file(xml file) that the windows service uses.
My question is where to put this configuration file so both projects can reach it?
I putted it in the solution items directory, bud i can't reach it in my code.
Can someone give me a hint?

What exactly do you mean by solution items directory?
Remember that VS (by default) places your binaries in the \bin\Debug or \bin\Release directories..

I am having a strange problem when starting a process on a Windows Mobile based device.
RepsApp is the entry point for the application.
AppHandler is essentially a class that is used to maintain a bunch of global variables.

In the MainForm class I simply set AppHandler.GetUpdates to True and close the form

When the MainForm closes :
if AppHandler.GetUpdates is True the main application stays in memory after it launchs the AppUpdater process.
if AppHandler.GetUpdates is False the main application closes as expected.
Is there any reason why calling Process.Start would prevent the main application from closing?

hi,
iam not sure if that could help..,
you set the current ProcessID from the running app at the arguemnts. don't know what your AppUpdater internal do with the ProcessID but maybe it supsends the thread on the processid so you "main" application could not close ?!?

A public variable is just a variable which is defined outside of a method and has the visibility specifier of public. Depending on how you look at it, a property could be a public variable in its most basic case (disregarding the generated get/set methods, no validation, etc).

Are you talking about a global variable (as in VB6) that can be access from anywhere in the app. Then use a static class and a internal static variable.
static Global {
internal static MyString = "Hello";
}
And this variable can be accessed from anywhere in the app using:
string string1 = Global.MyString;

Like that application, I try to show a PPT file within a form by using FindWindow() and SetParent() Function of "user32.dll" by C#. I can catch events such as: begin show, end show, next slide, next, previous, next build... by build functions to handle that events (for a object of Micorosoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.SlideShowWindow) . It works ok. But if slide has a VBA button (to run a marco or show animation ...) or has a video clip and you need to click on it to play, I can not catch onlick event for that object/shapes. I need to know what shape/object on slide is clicked when slide is showing. It seem as PPT do not support that event? Please help me.
